Re: Who saw P.S. I Love You?
i read the book (such a good book). i've kinda been shying away from the movie though, cause the clips i've seen haven't been exactly true to the book plot.....i'll eventually see it though, glad that you say it was good. that makes me feel better.

Re: Who saw P.S. I Love You?
So here's my 2cents...I thought the movie was ok...I LOVED parts and was turned off on many parts, but while I was watching it everytime Joe walked into the room I would start crying! It was horrible. He left to go out with his friends and I was just sobbing when he kissed me goodbye! I could not control it!!! I didn't cry at all during the movie, but one look at Joe or just hearing his voice sent me into an emotional tail spin

Re: Who saw P.S. I Love You?
another reason I was turned off was that it was starring HIlary Swank and though I respect her as an actress, I just felt if they cast her they shouldn't cast the super hunky heartthrob opposite her just like when she starred opposite Patrick Dempsey. She's attractive but she's an ordinary kind of pretty and they shouldnt have put the "Peoples Most beautiful" men opposite. Shallow I know lol

I thought that was one of the great aspects of the movie.. I read it as a sort of Cinderella Story. It's also another nice "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" lesson

Yup shallow. You aren't the person doing the casting. They felt they could do this role just fine. I don't think caring whether someone was on Peoples Most beautiful list was a concern of theirs

Re: Who saw P.S. I Love You?
Can we say RWAR much? As I said, she is a good actress and maybe when I see the movie I will see chemistry between them but based on the book, Hilary Swank doesn't fit the main heroine. And yes thats my opinion. Usually happens if I read a book before the movie.

And I was being funny or attempting to be. You went off on the casting. But we all do it with books if we read them first-you kinda create your own idea of the characters in your mind so when you see what someone else's interpetation is, sometimes it causes because we all think diff. According to the book, she doesn't seem to fit. Neither did he but again interpetation.

you have to see it jenn. their chemistry was amazing IMO!!!! and there were so many times when DH and I would look at her and say she looked just really beautiful and other times, id notice her peculiar features. i never really enjoyed her very much but her acting job in this was fantastic and so believable!!! one scene in particular w/ her mom..i \won't give details, DH and I were bawling.

Jess I didn't see "Dear Frankie." Whats that one about?
aw, its sweet but also tugs at your heart.
"Faced with the prospect of raising her son, Frankie (Jack McElhone), with a good-for-nothing man, Lizzie (Emily Mortimer) spirits him away to Scotland and pretends the boy's father is aboard the HMS Accra. After years of pretending, including sending Frankie fake letters detailing his dad's adventures, the jig is up when Frankie learns the ship is docked by their home. Now, Lizzie must find a man to pose as Frankie's father … fast!"
it stars Emily Mortimer who i also like.

Oh ok. I wasn't impressed with her in Freedom Writers but that wasn't her fault. I think we've just had too many of that type of movie made within the last 10-15 years but I'm willing to give her a shot in this because all of her other movies were great (except the Next Karte Kid).
Same happened with Jennifer Hewitt. I don't think she can act her way out of a paperbag BUT I LOVED her in "If Only." That mivie made me BAWL!!!!!
You need to rent that. SUCH SUCH a good movie if you like the type that kinda remidn you to live every day to the fullest and love as hard as you can for the time you have.
