What does it say on your marriage certificate?
Brides who are taking DH's last name- Did your Marriage Certificate have your name with your new last name on it or your name with your maiden name on it? Just asking.

Ok, I think the church made a mistake bc mine has my maiden name on it but I stated on the marriage license that I was going to change it

It should be when you went to get your marriage license that they ask you if you want to change it or what you want it to read.
Not sure if the church has/had anything to do with it 
On my marriage certificate it says first middle last(maiden) for name prior to marriage then it has my name hyphenated the way I wanted it to be.

When we went to have our license done I was asked for my maiden name then she asked what i would like to be known as and i put DH's last name.
As the others stated I don't think the church has anything to do with it. The officiant just signs it to say you were married. It would be where you got your license originally that did the error. I would try them.

The reason I say that the church made a mistake is bc on the marriage license I DID put that I was taking DH's last name. So maybe they didn't realize that.

As previously stated, the church doesn't have anything to do with the name on the license or marriage certificate - if it doesn't show what you wanted, then the clerk's office made a mistake.

If I remember correctly-i cant find mine- it had my maiden name/new name something to that affect.
Call the town clerks office-they are the ones that would have made the mistake-all the church does is sign that you are married and mail it-the rest of it is completed by the clerk

Ok, I think I know where some of my confusion is coming from. Yesterday I got a "Certificate of Marriage" in the mail, FROM THE CHURCH, but, I don't think that's our official marriage certificate, it's just something the church issues. Does that sound correct?

Right. That is not your official marriage licence. That's gets mailed to you from the government. What the church sent you was just a keepsake for you.
