Re: parent gifts

Here's my predicament. My parents are paying for the majority of the wedding, but FH's are paying for the band, a few thousand.

I plan on getting my parents a night at a b&b, and maybe dinner too... but I am stumped as to what I should FH's parents. They live in FL. We are considering getting them a gift card to a restaurant in NYC so when they are here - either for the wedding or another time - they can use it ... but neither one of those gifts, for my parents or for FILs, sounds like enough compared to what they are giving us. I may do what I have planned along with something very, very meaningful .. some kind of keepsake that is memorable and not cheesy ... now if I could just think of what that would be ...

This is more for the moms - my dad passed 5 yrs ago so I'm getting my mom the Lenox 'Mother's Loving Touch' figurine along with an engraved locket with my parent's wedding picture in it...

Maybe you can get your mom a locket?

Sorry - no help on the dad gift!!! We'll prob do an overnight stay for Fh's parents.

Re: parent gifts

I already bought my moms gift.. We bought her the Lenox "a Mothers Loving Touch" and I am going to buy my Dad a picture frame from Tiffanys and have it engraved.. One side will me a picture of me and my dad when I was a baby and the other a wedding pic of us... As far as my FIL go, I have no clue!

Maybe. She doesn't wear a ton of necklaces ... a nice pair of earrings might be a good bet. But then I am getting up there with the money, if I do the B&B and something for mom AND dad ... but definitely something to think about. Thanks!

I wish I could do this! I know I owe my parents big too, but with money being tight as it is, I really can't ... but the scale of what you are doing is what I wish I could.

Re: parent gifts

This may sound like a stupid question, but do you still get your parents gifts, even if they are not paying for the wedding?

I'm giving a gift b/c they are paying for the wedding and that is extremely generous in my book...if they aren't paying I would still want to give them something if they were supportive through it all. I know my parents were....

Re: parent gifts

i am totally at a lost for what to get them considering they are very unbalanced in how much they are helping us...

my mom/stepfather are paying for RH and catering, and my dress
FMIL is taking care of RD
FFIL nada so far
my dad/stepmom offered to make a card box

?????
FH wants to give my mom/stepdad a new plasma tv for everything, then what about everyone else???
