lack of thank you

So our best man's gf was pregnant and we went to the shower over 3 months ago and never received a thank you for our gift and I am insulted.

FH & BM are both latino- so FH says to me that Latino people dont send thank you notes- i swear sometimes he's a moron.

Anyhow, I know this is rude but I am sooo tempted to put a pack of thank you notes into the christening gift

benefit of the doubt...maybe it got lost in the mail?? I sent thank yous that never made it there.

WOW. Some people are just really late at getting around to writing thank yous. Maybe next time you see her, you could mention that you didn't get one, and did she send them out yet? Or, was there anyone else you knew at the shower that you could ask if they were sent? Was someone writing down who got her what?

Your FH is wrong...I'm latino and have always recieved thank you notes or a thank-you call or both from other latinos as well as non-latinos.

Maybe his BM's gf just lacks etiquette.

maybe she will get the hint for the christening gift, i know its a silly little thank you note, but you know you gift was appreciated. i get so angry when thanky ou cards are not mailed

None of FH's friends write thank yous---it drives me up a wall, we have been to quite a few weddings, I have had bridal showers and big birthday parties and nothing
I think that you should include the cards, maybe they will get a hint

I am still waiting for a thank you from my cousin for my tiffany's baby gift I gave her in November for her son.
I said something to my mom and she said don't expect people to live up to your standards , you will be disappointed .

I think it is extremely rude , but some people just don't know any better or they just don't care OR no one ever taught them that it is the right thing to do!

I would be insulted if a long period of time had passed. Three months is not that long. Personally I hope to have our thank you notes out before three months but preparing for a baby I am sure takes a great deal of ones time.

i never received a thank you for both a baby- a bridal shower back a few years ago the best part was my friend did receive hers .... i have a completely different outlook on this person now- i am awful!

I guess it depends on what kind of an impression you want to give.

My mom (who is majorly manipulative) is convinced that I have not thanked her for different wedding things she is paying for (she's in denial, I've thanked her A LOT and even given her gifts), so for Easter she gave me a gift basket with thank you's in it. Because we'd been arguing about it, it really upset me and FH, but if you haven't ever brough it up to BM's GF, then maybe she won't be offended.

i am guilty of this myself... for our engagement party i prepared a DVD montage as a thank you for everyone that we handed out at the engagement party..but i also planned on sending hand written notes... they are written but i never got to send them due to all my medical and personal issues.. i've apologized to most but not all.. and still plan on getting them out as late as they are (our party was in sept) ... so maybe she had some stuff going on..
but then again some people just don't think of thank you cards either...
maybe mention it next time you see them!!!
hope you all don't think i'm an awful person now..lmao..

Ok here's the thing - I'm Latina and I made custom TY cards for my shower (individualized for each guest with pics of them at my shower) and had them in the mail within 2 weeks.

HOWEVER, I do get the whole "latinos don't send TY's" type of comment because NO ONE in my family sends TYs - I'm 1st generation American so I know the ettiquette here, but my family that was not raised here doesn't. Some of my cousins may not have been taught this either, so I can see how some people don't send them.

That said, my wedding was in October and my TY's for the wedding are just now getting in the mail - sometimes things happen and people are not able to get to it - in our case I had medical issues and shoulder surgery almost 2 months ago and am just now starting to move my arm again - BUTTT many of our guests may not realize this and may just think we're rude. I hope not... in your friend's case, having a baby is very time consuming and different people deal with it differently - so maybe she hasn't been able to get to the TY's - I know it's rude, but maybe cut her some slack? Sorry, just trying to give the benefit of the doubt.

Im still waiting for a thank you to a baby shower I went to. The baby is now 1 1/2.


Anyway...as far as being Latino, um.....why wouldn't they send thank you's? I've never heard of one nationality being more polite then another. Some people just dont' have manners, no matter whta their ethnic background.

I love your idea of putting thank you cards in with the Christening gift! Though who knows if she'll take the hint! You're a bigger person than I am - I wouldn't even give them christening gift!
