Lessings Brides
FH and I are looking for a cake, I know they recommend Audry's and Black Forest. Can you tell me the process since the cake is included. If you did a tasting with both who did you like the best and why. If you're not using any... can you use a different baker?
TIA! I'm clueless!

Re: Lessings Brides
We are getting married at the West Sayville Country Club. Steve recommended the same places but said we could use anyone we wanted that he worked with many other bakeries. We chose create a cake - it is close to our home and we use them all of the time. They are owned by the same people as black forest and benkerts in Centereach.

Re: Lessings Brides
our cake is included in the catering price.... so how does using someone outside the recommended vendors work? did they give you a price limit?

Re: Lessings Brides
We are getting married at a Lessings place and we ordered our cake from Black Forest...
We did not receive samples from either - until we pruchased the cake...once we ordered Black Forest made a sample cake for us. We needed to pay for the sample cakes we received from Audrey's...
Both were delicious, but I'm very happy with our choice...
I have to say though, those tv shows make you think it's going to be a COMPLETELY different experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope that helps :)

Re: Lessings Brides
You need to call and speak to your rh manager about the amount included. It varies by rh.

i contacted the RH manager and she said $1 per person, I think thats a bit low. I wanted to use my sister's friend but I doubt it will be $1 per slice

Re: Lessings Brides
I was a little curious about the process, especially because our meeting with Black Forest was really quick. I brought a picture, she told me the upcharge for fondant (which wasn't included in the price), and the upcharge for a square cake. I picked flavors that we knew we liked and wanted (kept it simple - vanilla cake w/ cannoli cream, and chocolate w/ raspberry filling, alternating layers).
I was prepared to be disappointed but when I showed up my cake was beautiful, just like the picture I brought to them, and it was DELICIOUS! In fact, DH and I can't wait a year to eat the top, we're defrosting it now.... and we'll get another cake for our 1st anniversary (that isn't freezer burned!)

Re: Lessings Brides
Hi! I am a Bourne bride...we called Audrey's and Black Forest and ordered samples. I believe we did have to pay for them, but Audrey's gave us 3 huge cakes to try and Black Forest gave us two. We just told them the type of cake we were interested in (chocolate, no fondant etc) and they made the cakes for us ahead of time and we stopped by to pick them up.
We ended up going with Audrey's - I thought their cakes were amazing - super tasty and full of flavor. Black Forest was also great - but I think we just preferred Audrey's.
hope this helps!
