Re: Girls I need help

you can do this !!! try to relax a little bit - grab pen and paper and write down the first things that come to your mind when you think about your fh. Keep it simple and honest. That is what I did

I agree, it's really good to do a free write first and then organize those thoughts later....so just write how you feel about each other, it doesn't have to make sense on paper, it can be single words, broken sentences, or a few lines...but focus on your love and what makes it unique and take it from there!

Re: Girls I need help

we were thinking about it but really didnt know where to start... we have been trying to narrow down ketubah wording and loved this:

On the ___ day of the week, the ___ day of ___, in the year ___, which corresponds to the ___ day of ___, in the year ___, in ___, the groom, ___, son of ___, and the bride, ___, daughter of ___, joined each other before family and friends to enter into a mutual covenant of marriage, and with love and compassion each vowed to the other: "Today I love you completely, as I did yesterday and as I will tomorrow. I will be there for you when you need me most. I will hold you in my heart just as I hold you in my arms. I will share in your dreams, delight in your joys, and comfort you in your sorrows. I will be your confidant, your counsel, your friend, and your lover. When you are not within my sight, you will be within my thoughts. You are my life; you are my dreams; you are my joy; you are my love; you are my everything. At this moment you are all that I know and all that I see. As we grow old together and our love matures, may we hold on to the passion and affection for each other we feel today. Our commitment to each other seals this document."

We are probably going to use the part in bold as our vows. I think it's beautiful and I like the idea of us ACTUALLY having vowed these words if that is what the ketubah will say. We might tweak it slightly (and have the ketubah reflect these changes) but for us it's a happy medium where we are choosing what we say without writing it entirely from scratch.

Edit: I know you are an atty (or soon to be) and the word "counsel" makes me giggle. I think we might swap it out for something else. Any ideas?

It was one of the text choices on the ketubah site we plan to order from. The others were really formal and this one just made me tear up. I joked with FH that I should say "I will be your counsel" and he should say "I will be your engineer" but it's a little goofy -- there is a slim chance we might do it anyway in the ceremony, but we need something a little more normal for the ketubah. Companion might work!
