carmel/candy/choclate apples?

hey ladies - anyone else doing the carmel apple thing for their favors? i want to start researching this and have only come up with gormet sites where they are like $20 per ...yeah, not so much.
and - yes, i'd love to make them myself....i am crafty and love to bake but i've taken an oath that i won't be crafting or baking the week of the wedding as I'll drive everyone around me mad! so - any local vendors people might know about?
I'd like to do a mix of chocolate, carmel and candy coated as those are the colors of my wedding ... sort of ...ok well its latte or cream, but i've never seen a latte covered apple :) :)

Did you try to see if you can locate a chocolate factory that might be able to produce them for you? or if a local business does this?
I think another bride (not sure who though) was looking into doing the same thing.

I found this site online (not sure how good it is but the apples look sooo yummy).. also they look to be reasonably priced and they are in NJ- kinda closeby.

i know they have them at gertrude hawk! i've seen them before and the people in there are always sooooo nice!!! It can't hurt to look them up online and see if they can give you a discount for bulk!

I just looked them up online and the caramel ones are 6.99 each!

If you need - i can pick them up for you - there's one not far from my house in NJ! You just have to call them and make the order & i can bring them out for you!

Check with the Huntington Village Chamber of Commerce - The first weekend in October they have a huge fair at Hecksher park on main street. There is a food vendor there every year who sells candy/caramel & fudge apples I think 2 for $6.00 - Maybe they'll give you a list of their vendors and you can call them. Sorry I fo not know the vendors name.

There's also a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in NYC, on Chambers Street. Right off the 1/9/2/3. IIRC,

Here's the contact information- I just happened to work near there a few years ago and recalled that they do apples. Not sure if they still exist though.

I was planning to but I wanted to get the huge gourmet ones and those are easily $6 each and I just can't justify spending that much on an apple! If you want to do the plain caramel/candy with nuts on them, I'd go with Daffy. They are about $1 each.

I used to work for a chocolate store and i can give you step by step instructions on how to make them. I've made them for 15 parties so far. And everyone has loved them!! Depending on the time of year constitutes what we put on the outside. Its usually caramel and then the bottom half is covered in chocolate and rolled in nuts or sprinkles. Then they are wrapped in cello with personalized ribbon.

I JUST saw these at Waldbaums in Long Beach on Saturday!!!!! $2.99 for tuxedo dressed apples and they looked super yummy!!! I would check them 1st!

your are getting married around apple picking season so if you go to the apple orchards that have the farm stands they almost ALWAYS sell candy/caramel apples. You can probably just get them there for a good price and they sometimes come already wrapped in cellophane. Good Luck.
