Card Box dilemma...Is it rude?
My mom thinks its rude to have your guests drop your card into a card box. She said the guests usually hand you the cards as you go around to greet them. I was just wondering what your thoughts were on this since so many of you are using them. I love the look of them, byt I don't want to offend anyone. I guess it would save me money!

Re: Card Box dilemma...Is it rude?
I actually am using a card box because at the last wedding I went to it was annoying to have to hold on to the envelope until the bride and groom went around collecting them. Some people will still give it to you personally, but its good to have another alternative.

Re: Card Box dilemma...Is it rude?
I don't think it's rude. You'll need somewhere to place the cards after you receive them from the guests anyway, so even if you personally greet all your guests where are you going to put the cards? Plus not all guests like to hold onto cards (esp. if it has a good amount in there)--they rather get rid of it and enjoy the rest of their evening. Not rude at all.

Re: Card Box dilemma...Is it rude?
Well most guests will hand you the cards and you drop them in the cardbox. I just think it's a nice way of holding them all in one place so you don't have to worry about carrying them around.

This is true. Almost all my guests gave it to us when we went around to greet them. And then we placed it in the box ourselves. It was nice to have a place to have them all together though. I thought people would put it in themselves but they didn't.

we were handed a number of cards but some people dropped their cards into the cardbox themselves. Its not like there will be a sign that says "drop your card in here"

Re: Card Box dilemma...Is it rude?
I dont think its rude at all. There will people that will drop the cards in the card box and then people that will hand you the card themselves. I guess its just a matter of personal preference. Also, if you have the card box, you wont have to worry about where the cards are throughout the night

Re: Card Box dilemma...Is it rude?
The box or cage is the first thing I look for, so I can just get rid of the envelope before I lose it or someone snatches it.

Thanks ladies! I guess it would be nice to have someplace in the room instead of running to the bridal suite to put the cards away.

I dont think its rude, I'm having a card box. We're still going to go around to everyone and if someone hands it to me I'll put it in the cardbox myself.

i agree 100%. it's also alot safer than having an old fashioned bag since everyone sees the box, its alot harder for someone to steal from it.

I would not leave it in the bridal suite.....I know they lock it up, but I wouldn't trust the staff...I'd rather have it near me and FH, so I can keep my eyes on it

Re: Card Box dilemma...Is it rude?
I would do it b/c so people don't have to keep an eye on their envelope. Also, it was on the news or something a couple of years ago and a bride and grooms $ went missing. They thought it was a worker for the RH but once they got back their wedding video they were watching it and saw the father of the groom (I think or brides dad) stealing the envelops. That's just me I would rather be safe then sorry and they are so cute!

Re: Card Box dilemma...Is it rude?
We used a card box (well, it was a birdcage not a box)...and I think it worked out really well because we were running around the entire time. I'm sure if someone had given me an envelope while I was walking around I would have dropped it or misplaced it somehow. In addition, a lot of people gave my parents cards so with the birdcage we had a central place to put everything. And the birdcage was so nice, we had it on the head table with us..which allowed us to keep an eye on it ;) No one thought it was rude, and since we took pictures with our guests as we walked around, we didn't have to worry about unsightly envelopes in our wedding pictures!

nope. As a guest I prefer it. I think its weird to do the whole "greet and get your card" thing.

I don't think it is rude. Chances are you are not gonna be able to go around and greet everyone at the wedding. FH and I are gonna have a card box, or a bird cage All I know is after my wedding IWe are gonna be starving!!...LOL

Re: Card Box dilemma...Is it rude?
Even if you do a card box I find that people still want to hand it to you regardless. If you can hand off the cards to a designated person then they can put them in the box- the box imo merely acts like a "safe" of sorts.

Re: Card Box dilemma...Is it rude?
I don't think anyone was offended by the cardbox we had... some people gave them to us in person, and I didn't realize how many had just put it in the box themselves! It was great. We were running around constantly and were thankful not to have to run up to the bridal suite every 5 minutes!
