Cocktail Party

Do you guys think having a Cocktail Party with hors deurves, many cold stations, many hot stations, and many specialty stations instead of a full sit down dinner is acceptable. There would still be all the normal things at a wedding (bouquet toss, dancing, garter toss, first dance etc.) except the food would just be more interactive than a regular sit down. Also, there would be tables and chairs for everyone like at a regular sit down.

Re: Cocktail Party

so it would be just like a cocktail hour just longer in time?? that seems like it could be fun for a really laid back wedding.
Have you thought about a buffet, someone i know just got married and had a buffet instead of a full meal...

I don't see anything wrong with it, it seems like it would be more of a relaxed setting which isn't a bad thing

Re: Cocktail Party

2 things, I think it depends on the place and it should say something like that on the invitation. If its a matter of saving money then I would look into buffets. Buffets are still nice and give a more relaxed feel.

Re: Cocktail Party

I think either one is acceptable- after all it your wedding! You know your guests better than anyone- is this something they would like?

To tell you the truth, I enjoy hors dors MUCH better than full meals. I'd rather pick all night and it would give me more of a choice (since I can be a picky eater).

Just be prepared: people might have a strong opinion that it's not a "real" wedding w/o a sit down dinner or ask when dinner would be served....so in that case make sure they know about it ahead of time!

Re: Cocktail Party

I think people also base the gift on the place and type of wedding. Like black tie weddings usually get more money, etc.

I agree that people might have their opinions and expect a "real wedding" but I feel that if thats what you want, why not? It you and your FH day so you guys should do whatever makes you happy. People are going to talk regardless of what you do.
