27 Dresses - Amsale
I just saw 27 Dresses, very cute. Something I noticed, mostly because I was an Amsale bride myself, was all the Amsale references and I have some comments:
1. The Indian inspired BM orange dress Kathryn H. wears at the beginning (when she is cabbing from one wedding to the other in the same night) is odd as I have NEVER seen an Amsale BM dress looking anything like that. Unless it was custom made by Amsale. Was that weird to anyone else?
2. The boutique that the sister is having her fitting in is supposedly Amsale but I was at the (I think only) Amsale boutique many times to purchase my dress and for many a fitting...it looked nothing like the one in the movie. Why wouldn't they just use the real place on Madison? It was so nice!
3. How and why was Amsale the only referenced wedding designer in the movie? Was it a paid publicity thing or a choice the movie execs made?
I realize no one may know (or care) about these questions or the answers to them....but where else could I go on a rant about this sort of stuff other than LI Weddings!

In answer to #2
that movie was filmed in Providence, RI, so the shop on Madison would have been a stretch.  Its cheaper to film up here than in NY so lots of movie companies have been coming up this way. They filmed that a few blocks from my office and tried to make it look like NY. That wasn't an Amsale shop at all.

I loved that movie- it was sweet and enjoyable. That Amsale dress that her sister wore during her fitting- I see it in all the ads.

Amsale has decent PR and is always in the movies. I just saw American Wedding (the third American Pie movie) and in the movie, the boys were searching for the designer of an Amsale dress so he could make it for the bride.
