Registry completion is expensive!

Since we didn't get a lot of our formal flatware (silverware) as gifts, we just completed it now ....

I can't believe how quickly it all added up!

But for discounts! We saved $200 using our completion discount and a friends & family discount we got by email!

AND I found a website that seems to always offer a free soup bowl with purchase of a 5 pc. place setting of our china, so we'll be taking advantage of that too!

No point in having 1/2 sets of china, might as well use the wedding gift money we received to finish off the set!

Re: Registry completion is expensive!

Sorry to hear it was but on the completion. We ended up returning all the fancy flatware since less than 1/2 off it was purchased from Bloomies. We didn't get any of our china but neither of us were bothered by it. We were happier we received everything (and some extras)on our BBB registry.

Re: Registry completion is expensive!

Jess, i don't know where you are registered, but Fortunoff gave DH and I FREE bowls to go with our place setting. sometimes these stores run deals if you buuy a place setting, get a free bowl. some people that bought us a place setting, must have bought at that time, because we got about 3 bowls. the other 5 place settings we got did not have the bowl. i called and ask and because the special ran while our registry was active, they gave us the five other bowls for FREE! no tax, nothing! YAY!

Thanks for the suggestion Karen! Unfortunately Bloomies doesn't run those specials

Michael C Fina & Macy's also carry the same china, but we didn't register there ... and I don't think they run that special either.

Re: Registry completion is expensive!

I pretty much just finished our china set, give or take a few platters. At Fortunoff they tend to add in pieces we really don't need, we only got 2 serving bowls instead of three, 1 serving platter instead of 2, etc...and they had these little fruit bowls we didn't get. I figured we have salad plates, dessert plates and soup bowls, no need for fruit bowls too.
