I don't think so. I think it will be great, everybody already has off that day also its a great day of celebration and getting together. There are so many things you can do also with having it on July 4th.

Re: is a monday night wedding in july tacky
I dont think its tacky but you should prepare yourself for many guests (that would attend on a Fri, Sat wedding) to decline the invitation. For one, even if everyone is off on July 4, most everyone has to work on July 5 so it holiday status doesnt really help unless you move your wedding to the night before. Second, many people go on annual family vacations that week.
You should hold your wedding on the day YOU want to hold it. Fewer guests may even be a blessing.

Re: is a monday night wedding in july tacky
I have a similar feeling to wacky. Nearly everyone has some sort of annual plan for the fourth of July. If you can, I believe it would be more considerate to choose another date.

Re: is a monday night wedding in july tacky
Like a few others have said, be prepared for people to leave early or decline because they already have plans. If you decide to go through with it, definitely make sure you send out Save the Dates. JMO

Re: is a monday night wedding in july tacky
I agree with most of the ladies - I don't think it's tacky, but be prepared for a lot of no's or people who leave early. Could you make your wedding that Sunday instead, so people have Monday to recover? Personally, I can not stand Sunday night weddings when I have to go to work the next day. Also, how many out-of-town guests are you expecting?? If you have a lot, that might not work, either.
JMO!!

Re: is a monday night wedding in july tacky
4th of July is the biggest holiday for families to go away on vacation. Some people even have an annual place where they visit. Something you should keep in mind.
If you really want to have it during that time, maybe have it on Sunday evening

Re: is a monday night wedding in july tacky
I don't think it is tacky but, I do think that your many people will decline because of vacations, it is a holiday, they are in parades, have previous functions that they were invited to etc... You might really want to talk to your family and extended family and friends before commiting to a monday night even if it is 4th of July. LOL

Re: is a monday night wedding in july tacky
What everyone said so far about people taking family vacation is probably right. However, you should realize that changing it to sunday will be better for people who then won't have to go to work the next day - but if people will not be there on the 4th then they won't also be there if you do it sunday because they will already be out of town. Also keep in mind that traffic could be bad at that time making it harder to get photos done if you want to go to the beach etc.

Re: is a monday night wedding in july tacky
I don't think it is tacky. But def. send out save the dates well in advance b/c people may take advantage of the 3 day weekend to travel out of town.
Also, from a guest's point of view, having the reception during the day would be preferable since there's work the next morning.

Re: is a monday night wedding in july tacky
I'm not a big fan of holiday weddings, but that's because my family always has something going on. Also my son's birthday is 7/5 & we celebrate w/a big party on the 4th. I have been invited to several Thursday & Sunday night weddings & have always tried to attend, but sometimes leave early. Some people will be a little more conservative if they have work in the morning. The people that matter the most to you & your Fi will be there no matter what-do what's good for you.
