Sat afternoon/night reception

:) Need your opinions,,,

I am thinking of a sat afternoon due to decreased cost, church wedding... what time does it usually end? We are looking at places with grounds so it would be nice to take pictures in the day...if you had a afternoon wedding did it not have the party atms? Thanks! :) Christina

Re: Sat afternoon/night reception

Nothing wrong with a Sat afternoon wedding - it gives people who want to do an afterparty with you the availability also people who are out of town that might have to travel far can not have to worry about the expense of staying over or leaving your wedding early i think a day wedding is great - (im doing one if u couldnt tell )

Re: Sat afternoon/night reception

i'm doing a Saturday afternoon wedding and, although i was ambivalent at first, i've really come around. i think it's great because you can have the after party! OOT guests can fly back the same day or stay over. And it's cheaper! I couldn't ask for anything more!

Re: Sat afternoon/night reception

I love weddings regardless of when they are!

But, one of the reasons I chose a friday night (and I know there are things that aren't great about friday night weddings) was that the cost was a little less. I've been to some day/afternoon weddings and people didn't dance as much because there was so much natural light. Maybe it was just a lame wedding I went to.

Re: Sat afternoon/night reception

I was orig. going to have a sat. afternoon wedding. It was set to start at 12:00pm and ended at 5 pm. Not a big deal if ur ok w. having the ceremony at the RH. But I knew I wanted a church and that got really tricky. Sat. afternoon is a pain as far as getting ready, taking pictures. I would have had to wake up at 5 am to get my hair / make up done. The mass would have started at 9:30am. That would give me about an hour and a half for pics. Its def. do able.... but I was def. going to be rushing.

I think that it's a great idea if you and FH see each other "before" the ceremony to get the pics out of the way and have the ceremony in the RH. It helps everything flow smoothly and is less rushed.

I ended up switching to a sat. night b.c the price p. person only went up by 10 bucks. so I figured it wasnt that bad. Wats your opinion?

Saturday afternoon is definitely cheaper and you'll be able to go home after the afternoon wedding and get your envelopes counted and possibly do an after party.

It's kind of a big thing

Re: Sat afternoon/night reception

We're doing a Saturday afternoon for a few reasons. Number one, the room we wanted required a much higher minimum number of people at night and our guest list is not that big. Number two, the grounds are beautiful and we wanted to take advantage of the daylight and number three, the tremendous savings.

we're having sunday afternoon but holiday wknd so same thing as saturtday, usually 1-2 CH then 2-6 reception,

I like the day wedding for some older guests and also then the real troopers can enjoy the after party at the hotel
