Who lifts the veil?
My parents will be walking me down the aisle. Who lifts the blusher...parents or FH? I like the idea of FH doing it, but not sure what the tradition actually is.

Re: Who lifts the veil?
"traditionally" it is supposed to be FH before he kisses the bride.
Most people have their father do it though. DOn't know if I can stand it in my face for the entire ceremony!!!

Re: Who lifts the veil?
If you want it off your face for the ceremony then your dad lifts it... if you want it lifted right before your kiss, then FH would do it.

Re: Who lifts the veil?
two ways : either of your parents, since both will be walking you down the aisle or if you wear it during the ceremony, your DH right before he kisses you at the end.

Re: Who lifts the veil?
Found this on the internet::
It's commonly believed that it is bad luck for groom to see his bride in her dress before the ceremony, and therefore a veil was used to conceal her. In fact, in the old days of arranged marriages, the groom rarely saw his bride at all before the wedding day. If she was ugly, a veil might have prevented him from running away. But everyone knows there's no such thing as an ugly bride. A bride is always somewhere between 'very pretty' and 'absolutely gorgeous'. Veiling the bride is a symbolic way of tantalizing the groom by concealing her beauty until he becomes her husband and is permitted to see her.
When something is prohibited or difficult to have, it often seems more attractive and thrilling. A short skirt can seduce men more than a swimsuit. Why? Because covering the tops of the legs (just), sets off the man's imagination. Intention and context make the eroticism, not the amount of exposed skin. This was the simple psychology that made the dance of the seven veils so seductive.
As mentioned above, one purpose of the wedding veil was to conceal the bride from demons. Family and friends were aware that the veiled figure standing next to the groom was the bride, but fortunately the goblins were apparently fooled. The superstition was so strong that families even supplied bridesmaids as decoys. These maids would not wear veils but would be dressed attractively and prepared to sacrifice their souls if required. Superstitious nonsense maybe, but the tradition continues to this day.

If she was ugly......love it!
Thanks everyone. I think I might just break with tradition and have FH do it at the beginning...I really like the idea of that, and dont want to wear it during the whole ceremony.
