Need MOB help- Is Black a real no no??

My mother and I decided to run to a few gown stores over the weekend & she found a gorgeous dress. However, it's black. I don't care at all & she looks spectacular in it. It doesn't come in any other nice colors and she feels weird getting black. I'm so obsessed with the way the dress looks on her though so I'm pushing for her to get it. What do you all think? Thanks

My opinion - If you really love the dress - why not? Today is alot different from years ago where it was a big no-no to wear black to a wedding. However, if your mother is not comfortable wearing black to your wedding then I wouldn't push it. She may feel the need to explain to everyone that night that the reason she is wearing black is because you loved the dress so much.

Tell her to go for it. It can be brightened up with pretty flowers or shoes.

I would have no problem with black. Why not wear a silver/gold or colored shawl with shoes to match to break up the color a bit if that concerns her.
