Marianela Vera - Negative Experience
Ladies,
I got married in September and since I'm from out of the NY area, I found this board SOOOO helpful in my planning. I have never posted anything negative before but I feel like I have to so it doesn't happen to other brides. I had Marianela Vera take our photos for the wedding. She was affordable and seemed on top of things prior to the wedding. At our wedding, she seemed to be in a slightly not-so-nice mood, but we just took it as her being "reserved". She was snippy with a few of my family members, as well as myself but it didn't phase me too much.
When we received our photos, they were ok. Not great, but not terrible. I showed them to my family and friends and they felt the same way. We were a bit disappointed because she missed some great key moments but we didn't plan on saying anything to her about it.
However, it was when it was time to order our prints that the biggest problem came. In our package, we were to receive 20 free 8x10 prints We picked them out and contacted her to place the order. That was back in January. We emailed, called and left numerous messages. WE STILL HAVE NEVER HEARD BACK FROM HER! We have no promised prints, no returned calls or no returned emails.
I even warned her that if I didn't hear back from her in the last two weeks that I would post my story on this website. She still did not respond.
I am not a negative person at all, but I felt like I had to share the story so other brides didn't get themselves into the same situation.

Do you have her address? If so, why not go to her building and leave a message with the doorman? We haven't picked our album yet, and our wedding was in October '06. Granted we had a lot going on (baby, house) but I've left her several messages and sent her several emails and she hasn't called back so I'm worried as well because we cannot get our negatives until we pick something.
My experience with her wasn't a bad one..it was actually great but I'm nervous I won't ever be able to get my album.

im so sorry this happened to you..it is one of the most important days in ur life and u want everything to be great and perfect..and someone like that comes along ...im soory...but i will never go to her..if she did that to one person..she will do it to someone else!!!!! Will never reccomend her to anyone either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awww. Soo sorry to hear about this. I just out of curiousity googled her and checked out her webpage.
She has a link under there titled " IMPORTANTN INFO."It says she has retired as of January 2008.
I hope you guys get your pictures ASAP.

I'm having a similar issue with Marianela & the photos from our Oct 2007 wedding. She sent a mass email out back in May letting clients & friends know that she was hurt in a car accident here in NYC and has since moved out of town. I contacted her directly after that and she said she would get us our pics , but it hasn't happened yet.  I just keep emailing and leaving her voicemails, but nadda.

Wow!! I never got the email about her being in an accident. That's horrible! I've also left her several emails and messages and she hasn't gotten back to me. However, we were lucky enough to have received our digital images, so we will be able to make an album from that.
So sorry to everyone else who hasn't received their pictures. The link on her website does have her email address, but what's the point of emailing her if she's not going to answer.

Another thing I wanted to add, was that maybe you could try mailing her a letter certified. I'm sure wherever she moved to she put a forwarding on her old address. That may get her to answer. If not, then I would try taking her to court. There's really no other option at this point if she's not answering.

i'm getting a little worried myself about this -- as she has my negatives. i went to her website and it appears she has "retired" from wedding photography and i emailed her and it keeps bouncing back!
