Our Lego theme
Hi all,
I haven't done a full write-up of the Lego elements from our wedding, but I put a sample together for TheKnot.com's Best of 2007 contest.

how long did it take you to create that portrait?
There are freely available software tools for creating Lego mosaics which greatly simplify the process.
In spite of this, you must decide on a multitude of options: dimensions, pattern dithering method, number and kinds of colors, types of bricks, and build style.
This process is time consuming as you'll most likely have to balance between the quality of the mosaic and the availability and affordability of bricks for the build.
For this particular mosaic, which is 7680 lego bricks, it took about 3 hours to design and order parts. Once the pieces of arrived, it only took about a night (4 hours) for my wife and I to build it.
