When you went to look at catering halls

Was there an actual wedding going on and if so did it help in your decision making? Also would you mind if a couple came & looked at your hall during your reception do you think it is tasteless?

Re: When you went to look at catering halls

I would not book a place that would allow others couples in to look around during a wedding. I certainly would not have wanted anyone doing that at my wedding.

So, no - none of the places I looked at had a wedding going on at the time I was there. Though some were set up for weddings later that day.

Re: When you went to look at catering halls

I would be very upset if a couple came to see Flowerfield during my wedding. Infact, I would steer clear of places that allow this. In my opinion weddings are private affairs for family and friends, they should not be used to make a sale.

Re: When you went to look at catering halls

I am getting married at Carlyle on the Green. We never saw it set up for a wedding. The only pics I have seen are from these wonderful brides that were married there. It really helped.

About looking at the hall while the reception was going on..No, I don't have a problem with it. The staff can bring someone in a side entrance where they will not be seen by the guests or me...you have 5 mins then scram.LOL

Re: When you went to look at catering halls

I agree, no one but your guests and the workers should be aloud in to look at the room. When my sister got married the first time around, (she has since remarried and is very happy) the catering hall let a couple in to look, right in front of me! I was like oh my!! Needless to say they did not hear the end of that one and I did not even bother to look there when I was looking for a hall!

Re: When you went to look at catering halls

We were offered an opportunity to view our location during setup, but not during the reception itself.

Re: When you went to look at catering halls

We had our ceremony @ our reception site & since they don't allow rehearsals they let us come in & see a ceremony set up. We were there @ 9am-the ceremony started @ 11:30am. We took 3 quick pictures looked at how long the aisle was & went into the catering office for an appointment w/our banquet manager.
I don't think you should be allowed in during a reception or cocktail hour.

Re: When you went to look at catering halls

We saw a room set up for a wedding, but the guests were upstairs for the cocktail hour. My FMIL was with us at the time and she had not seen the cocktail hour room yet, so she peeked her head in. I was like there are people in there! Get out of there! I wouldn't want people walking in to my wedding so I would not walk into someone elses.

i saw it during setup - they won't even allow you to walk around in the hall while a wedding is going on

Re: When you went to look at catering halls

I don't like that at all! I felt very secure with my hall because they would not let us into the rooms while they were occupied or cleaning up. That definitely showed me that my privacy would be respected on my wedding day!
