annoyed need to vent a little bit ***UPDATED***

so yesterday i was talking to fh's step-family and they were asking me all sorts of wedding related questions and what not and they asked me about my registery. so i was answering thieir questions, no big deal. then they asked if i registered for china, i said yes. they asked how much a setting so i told them and they proceeded to tell me i should take it off b/c i was going to get like maybe 1 or 2 place settings and it's a waste. what am i supposed to do???

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!

went to my parents house for our birthday dinner (our b-days were thursday) and guess what she got for us!!!!!!!! 2 place settings!!!!!!!!!!! they will be delivered in about 2 weeks. see people will buy them! and she told me she plans on buys at least 2 more and a serving tray so they can just blow me!

I would leave it on. If its what you want people will buy what they can for you. You always have the option to purchase on your own to complete the amount of settings you've requested.

leave it on! if you dont get all of it you can always buy it after the wedding! dont let anyone tell you to take stuff off your registry.....every shower i have been to that the bride had china on the registry its been bought. usually by the BP as the BP gift to the bride. leave it on!

seriously the place settings are $120. i thought i picked pretty middle of the road.

Maybe you will get just 1-2 settings from their side, but your side might get it for you.

I say leave it....add more even!!

No one HAS TO buy it.its there if they want to.

ETS--so what if 2 of his family members want to chip in for 1 setting

and I agree with Jess's "blow you" theory

Paul and I registered, and we know place settings are expensive.

We bought what we didn't get from our engagement party with the money gifts we received.

I say leave it. Especially if you get some sort of rewards for purchases off your registry. Whether you buy it, or someone else does.

An expensive gift looming in your registry isn't the end of the world!! If people are overcome with guilt for not buying it, let it be their problem!

ETA: Paul and I registed for lenox dessert plates at 40$ each and someone bought every one of them!

Leave the china on your registry! It's yours and your FH's registry, not theirs. So what if you don't get all of the place settings you need/want? You can always buy the rest yourself.

Are you registered at a store that has coupons and/or sales? Also, stores usually give you a discount to buy anything from your registry afterwards.

1 setting from my china is $115 regularly, but it's usually on sale for $90 and even $80...I'm registered at Macy's so if it's $80, and someone has a 10% off coupon, it can be bought for $72...not bad!

Leave it on your registry. You & fh picked it because you like it. You never know what people are going to purchase for you. Don't let them get to you

Although thats exactly the reason why I didnt register for china (my family will NOT spend that kind of $$, I know this to be true) it is None of their business!! You never know! Plus, if you do only receive 2 settings, you can always choose to return them later on.

that is very reasonable for china. I don't think you will have a problem with anyone else thinking it is too much $$$. even if I got only 2 of my place settings ... its the china I want. I will buy the rest of it myself. That comment was just obnoxious.

we registered for china and received almost everything just as engagement gifts! 12 place settings w/ soup bowls (came free as a promotion), 12 accent plates (they had $50 gift card with a $200 purchase and people used those to buy me the matching plates), a creamer and sugar bowl, 1 platter and one open vegetable bowl!

the only thingi have left is a second open veg bowl and 12 multipurpose bowls that we registered for at macys bc bbb didnt carry it.

people really like buying china and glassware -- they were the first things off our registry.

i'd leave it on if you like it, and you can always buy the rest yourself with a completion discount.

Definitely leave it. Do not let anyone tell you what to do.

I do have to say that I apparently have no idea what china costs. I am not registering for it, because I feel I will never use it (I'm just going to register for nice everyday stuff and get a lot of settings) .... I had NO IDEA $120 was average!
