Anyone here good at cooking? I need some help LOL

I am cooking stew from that Rachael Ray recipe and its a Beef stew now i added 2 tblspoons of flour will it thicken up after cooking for awhile or is it supposed to be thick already? And another question is am I supposed to cook it on high to boil the veggies or cook it slow? I stink at this and it doesnt say in the recipe

are there potatoes in the stew???? usually the potatos end up making it super thick by the time it's all done....

and i dont really boil it..... i let it more or less simmer (little bubbles....no rapid boiling)...hope this helps!

DH said you want to slow cook it for a couple of hours. He doesnt know about the flour, when we make stew we add corn starch afterwards to thicken it so he cant help with that.

He said if you cook it slow the beef will be more tender.

But then again he doesnt know about Rachel Rays recipes

naaah it wont turn to moosh (lol hopefully!)...usually the longer u cook stew the better the meat gets....it should be low but should still be simmering...definetly no need to boil unless the recipe calls for it!

Re: Anyone here good at cooking? I need some help LOL

I actually don't know the first thing about cooking, and to top it off, I use the Modern Jewish Woman's Guide to Cooking (which Ev did not receive a copy of!)-i have the take out numbers.

But this one I can actually answer. It should thicken towards the end of cooking it. I wouldn't add extra flour because it will be too thick, but it will thicken as it cools.

For stew-slow cook.

Hope this helps...
