Re: Catholic brides having a church wedding...
I don't go and I feel bad also. I keep saying I'm going to go and then I go out late on Saturday nights and there's no way I can wake up for church. Oh well.

Re: Catholic brides having a church wedding...
John & I went to meet with our organist last Sunday & threw a whole bunch of the pre printed envelopes with our name on it at once-like 5 weeks worth , think they'll realize?

My priest didn't even offer the quickie ceremony...I felt bad asking for it if he didn't offer it.

Re: Catholic brides having a church wedding...
I don't have a choice. I asked my FH is we could do the quick ceremony and he said he didn't think it was a wise idea since his mom is a former nun, so we're stuck with the full mass.

Re: Catholic brides having a church wedding...
I feel just like Wacky. Except when I do speak to my priest, I feel like he is going to curse me or something for not going to church! I have to get my butt in there for Ash Wednesday and after that. Gotta see how the church is decorated for Lent since my wedding falls during that time. Have to start somehow right?

Re: Catholic brides having a church wedding...
the last time i went was x-mas and i probably won't go again until easter. i haven't been a regular church goer for quite some time now. i know it's bad that i think this way but i really want to see the church on easter because i am getting married next year the week after easter and i want to see what the church looks like. my priest said that if we don't have a full mass, the ceremony will still be about 45 minutes. he said a full mass is closer to an hour. how short is a "quickie" ceremony supposed to be?

We were trying for awhile but than he got hurt and we stopped than we started to go again. Lately we don't make it because of his schedule on the weekend. I guess there is no excuse for me not to go.

I do go to mass regularly, also I have been teaching CCD for the last 14 years so having a full mass was nothing I had to think about.

Re: Catholic brides having a church wedding...
Wow - I didn't realize there were more than just me who were either converting to Catholicism or becoming Catholic. I attend class once a week as well as Mass on Sundays with my classmates. For me the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony as a confirmed Catholic is my payoff for all of the classes I have been attending. Besides I don't think FH's father would have it any other way. FH's great-uncle is a retired monsignor and he is marrying us....
Those of you converting - are you getting confirmed Holy Saturday?

Re: Catholic brides having a church wedding...
Both DH and I are Catholic and go to church regularly. So having a full mass was the only way to go. I went to Catholic scholl through 12th grade so it has kind of been beaten in to me!! Plus our wedding was on a Sunday so we killed two birds with one stone!!

Re: Catholic brides having a church wedding...
Those of you converting, welcome to the "Catholic Club". Being married in the house of God with your friends and family is the best result of all your classes and attending mass.
