1st time home owner grants up to $10,000
a post was made earlier about teachers getting assistance with purchasing a home. There are a lot of useful resources if youknow how to find them.
here are 2 to get you started:
this next link is a guide about where to find the grants and what to do to petition for a grant for up to 5% of purchase value. No need to purchase the grant writing info, that can be found online.
click and scroll down to NY
info about closing costs
FH and I have been diligently looking into buying a house. We have learned so much that we have decided to wait another 5 years.

ETA: There is a lot of information online as well as through HUD website. It is also beneficial to search for grant info via local offices in home counties.

Seriously thanks. I am so confused when it comes to these things. FH and I have been discussing ocassionally about getting a home in the next year or so, and I think it is complicated. Especially when the money isnt flowing so quickly

if you go to your local library there is a lot more info. There used to be websites that posted more info and 'how to's' but they have since vanished.
My sister, who is a single parent, receives refunds via grants for all of the books she purchases for her children whther they are for pleasure or for school, as well as rebates for local school taxes etc.
