QOTD: Monday, February 11, 2008

Good morning girls! How are you today? It's Monday! Hopefully our week goes quickly!

In theory, weddings are such happy times for the bride and groom and for close family and friends. From personal experience, however, I’ve found that sometimes even the closest people in life don’t display the level of excitement that you would have expected from them, or just don’t get involved as much as you thought they would. Who in your and FH’s life is the most supportive, excited and/or involved? The least? Whose level of excitement/involvement (whether it is a lot or a little) are you surprised about?

My mother is extremely involved (even though I’d prefer if she’d step back a bit), but that doesn’t surprise me. My BM’s, however, don’t seem that interested, excited or involved and that surprised me a lot. These are friends that I’ve had since childhood, and I’d expect a little more “gusto” out of them! I’m a bit disappointed that they don’t show that level of enthusiasm that I expected from them!

My Mom and Grandmother are probably the most involed and excited which I expected and LOOOOOVE soooooo much! I wish some of my bridal party would show a little more interest and excitement ALREADY.. but it is still a bit of time away...... maybe they all will eventually......
And I am definitely surprised at how excited and involed my dad is.. he is loving the planning and I am loving that he is involved!

my mom and my sister are the most excited...i think FMIL is the least excited (which is ok i guess, but it would be fine if she showed a little more involvement)

I have to say that everyone is involved and excited. All of our family and friends ask about it all the time and they are always offering help.

My mom is involved she's excited but I think still a little weary. My brother's girlfriend is excited and willing to help. My FH's parents couldn't wait for us to get engaged, they've been telling their family and friends that we were engaged in october. My dad doesn't seem excited at all but I'll get him to come around.

on fh;s side his mom is most involved and excited for us..shes always asking me if i need ne help or ne thing...least on his side is his sil..she hasnt even congratualted us on our engagement ...she acts like we arent even getting married......on my side everyone is basically wrapped up in lil sisters wedding so no time for mine yet (she is getting married this sept.) which is fine..im not mad

Most excited is definitely my older sister and MOH. She is the most supportive sister and I love her more than anything. She loves Jason like her own brother and she couldn't be happier for us. It makes me feel so good to have someone like her to support us 100%.

Least excited would probably be my dad. He lives in Florida and I rarely see or talk to him. Its not that he is not happy for us, its just that he is not in my life enough, and never has been. He left us when I was 6 months old and moved to Florida to be with my witch of a step mother.

Sad to say but, I cant really think of anyone super excited about the wedding or wedding planning besides FH and I.

As of right now i think my friends are the most supportive. It's hard because on my side, the family will not admit we are engaged without the ring. His side... they already call me his wife lol

at first i felt like people weren't really excited, but it must have been because of all of the chaos that comes with christmas. afterwards though, everyone really got into it! my sister is so adorable, sending me all sorts of ideas! my parents were great, but difficult when it came to the decision making on the RH (because they're paying for it).

FMIL and FSIL are awesome. FSIL has been excited for our wedding before we were engaged! FMIL works for macys and told me that i can buy my dress through her to get her 20% discount!!

my BM's are awesome... its supposed to be a surprise, but they want to take me to vegas to celebrate!

I think my family was the most excited and FH's mother [which kinda surprised me]. Of course my mom and dad are the most involved cause of the financial aspect of everything but to be expected.

FH's dad though seems the least interested. I don't even think he said congratulations. Although, when it can to FMIL's new husband being at the wedding he had tons to say GRRRR

Whatever ... I will just keep planning with FH and when everyone is ready to get on the wedding band wagon we will welcome them

Who in your and FH’s life is the most supportive, excited and/or involved?
In my life, I think a lot of people are really supportive. Most of my family. Same for FH.

The least? The least supportive in my life is my good friend. She was engaged and they broke off the wedding plans and I think she is a little sad that I am getting married. In FH's life, his sister. She is older (29) and has been wanting to get married for ages. I feel bad for her though so I can understand. She has been with this guy for quite sometime and it seems that they are going nowhere.

Whose level of excitement/involvement (whether it is a lot or a little) are you surprised about? I am surprised about my cousin and my Aunt. They have done so much to help me from giving me wedding planning books and pointers on the planning process.

There is only one person who sticks out to me. FH's friend's live in g/f. She is not a nice person by any means, no one in our ring of friends cares very much about her because she is extremely cynical and very judgemental. Well I have always been nice to her because that is just how I am, and both FH and i were very suprised when she came to our E party and gave me a big hug and congratulations. SHe asked to see my ring and to hear about how we were engaged. She continued to dance the night away and then she went home and wrote a nasty blog about our party. She actually wrote that I threw my hand in her face to see my ring and that she was humorously taken aback, she preceded to write more and more nonsense that did not take place. When FH and I confronted her she tried to tell us that it wasn't about us and then she changed her story and said that she used us as the catalyst of her piece. She did not apologize and she will not remove it from the internet. At first I was so angry at her that I did not want to invite her to the wedding but now I am more calm and have decided that I am not going to penalize FH's friend. So we have decided that she will be invited to the wedding but we will not be going out of our way for her. I was just so suprised that someone that is only an aquaintance can be so cruel. I know that it is most likely jealousy because her bf is so cheap that he would never buy her a ring or a nice wedding. This is what happened with his ex. But I find it so demeaning for her to go online and write something like she did.

FMIL is the only person who asks about the wedding at all w/ the possible exception of whatever i come across in idle chit chat @ work. i don't really bring it up with anyone other than FH.

My mom and my best friend are the most supportive... I can't think of a wedding dress shopping trip that they have missed....

I wish my old roommate would be more into my wedding planning but she has a new love across the country.... so... she travels a lot...

I havent really asked anything of anybody yet, but hopefully when the time comes, they all step up to the plate! My mom is excited, but i have to say, my sister who is the MOH is the most excited.!

Everyone is kinda going along with whatever my FH and I say at this point- since I've been in the business for awihle... I think everyone thinks we have it pretty under control- and they are right!!! Even Bill @ vineyard caterers couldn't believe how much we have done already!

We are very lucky however to have wonderful supportive parents and family on both sides who listen to our every rant and rave!
