How did your send your save the date magnets?

Hey Girls, I really need help. I have got to get my save the dates ordered today becuase we are having a destination wedding and its on September 6th. I am totally freaking out. I ordered magnet samples from magnet street and they are a bit on the flimsy side, but i guess i can deal with it if I dont come up with another idea today. I have attached two types that we like, which would you guys go for? My FH is really not into having a picture of us on it becuase he thinks people dont want to look at us on their frig all year, so we also found one that doesnt' have a personal photo that I actually love. Thoughts?

Also, any other really cute creative ideas out there for save the dates?

I saw them on LIW in a post by another bride and they are so cute. They make 2 types. One has a removable sticker for people to put on their calendars....loved it!! And the other is just the card. They will customize the printing and are so nice to work with. I called and moved words around and she sent the sample by email almost immediately. They only cost $24.95 for 100 and she includes the envelopes and return address stickers. You can' t beat it.

We're having a destination wedding too, in June, and just sent out the STDs in December. 6 months is a fine time frame, so for you, that's March. Relax!

I was against the photo idea too at first, but I turned around and used one of our engagement photos (made it pretty small) and also a photo of the inn where we're getting married. I designed it myself on PowerPoint and had it printed at Vistaprint.com, and people love them. If you're not the creative type, Vistaprint also has ready-designed STDs (postcards, invitation-sized cards, etc.) and they're always running sales. I got our 100 STDs plus return-addressed envelopes for like $60, including tax and shipping.

One suggestion: If you're having a destination wedding, you should put the place where you're getting married on the STD so people realize that they have to get moving with travel reservations. Not everyone will go and check your web site.

I am making my own....if you want to use a scenic background...find a picture that you love, drop it into microsoft publisher (if you don't have that, most microsoft programs let you do this) . Then add a text box, right click, format, push forward, and write whatever it is you want. Upload to get it printed anywhere....target, costoc etc.....go by a zyron with from joannes, and the magnet cartridge....and start turning.....so easy to make, costs less then a lot of the online vendors and then you will have the zyron machine to do other diy projects!!!!

i ordered my std's from vista print...and i think they do magnets as well. (we did postcards, got 200 for free, and basically just paid for s&h)

i received a save the date a while ago (magnet) and it had a caricature picture of the couple.....your fh might like that idea better?

my cousin did post card save the dates and they were really cute, plus is saves on the cost of stamps. I ordered my std magnets from vista, we got the large ones 100 for 50. I dont know how they will look but i heard a lot of good reviews here on LIW.

Not having your picture on the STD is ok, FH and I put our picture on it since we're having our parents friends coming they might not know who we are so they can put a name to a face.

We also did ones without our picture because I saw a cute graphic online and wanted to make it into a STD -- we also hadn't taken our e-pix yet. Ours were magnets and are kind of flimsy but they were really really cheap and they get the job done. We did get a few duds (won't even hold up one paper) but most are fine. Everyone seems to have them up which makes me really excited!

Mine came with a small card that the STD can be placed inside.. So I wrote a little note on each and sent them in the mini envelope... I also made labels with our wedding website on LIW on the back and put a note for everyone to visit!
