Re: Are we crazy?
My FH and I have gotten a friend of his ordained on-line to perform our ceremony. Neither of us are members of a church and we wanted someone that knew us to perform the ceremony. Is this crazy?

Nope I think its a great idea having someone you know and like to marry you.

Re: Are we crazy?
It's not crazy, but let me warn you....
I work in the Town Clerk's Office in Riverhead, and someone wanted to do this. We had to call Vital Statistics to check and see if it was legal, and guess what? The ordained via-the-internet isn't recognized in New York State. Which means, if your friend did this, you wouldn't legally be married! You'll have to find a judge to marry you. Hope this helps!

I think it's a great and sweet idea. But definitely make sure it's legal first!

If it's legal, that is such a great idea.

Re: Are we crazy?
DrmnBlnd well maybe you can help me. My FH friend is an ordained minister who has a license to practice in VA I think. His ordained by a recognized church but I know he needs to get certified in New York to perform a cermony. How do we go about doing that?
