kinda bummed - cheer me up

So I know this is dumb but I am kind of upset. I know about my shower cuz its in Jersey (where im from, now i live in NYC) and its impossible to surprise me. Well I just found out that my parents haven't met the min they put on facility and they are going to call some people who haven't RSVP'd to see if maybe some more are coming.

I'm upset cuz none of FH's mom's cousins are coming. We are pretty close to that side of the family and they have come to other family parties (I have been with FH for 7 yrs so they know me very well). I purposely picked a place in NJ that is right near the turnpike exits for staten island, so its easy for them to get too.

I know its silly but I guess I am kind of bummed that out of these 5, none of them are going. Just upsetting since like I said, I have been to other family functions and they always go to them.

You're not being dumb.... i don't think some people really realize how much it means to the bride to be to have her family and friends there at events....
My own mom didn't make it to my shower(she lives far, but still I'm an only child she could have taken day to come), and one aunt came..... ALL of my coworkers came
Realize the ones that who are there are the ones that really care, but also realize there may be good reasons some can't come... I hope your fam meets their minimum though....
the ones who just arent coming because theyre douchesss, you dont want them there anyway!!!
Take the "I just don't give a ****" attitude, it's done wonders for me over the last few days!!!

i think you're entitled to feel insulted, however....focus on the fact that there will be PLENTY of people there that really want to be there!! You are going to have a great time!!! Maybe there is a good reason?? Who knows...

You're not being dumb at all. You're trying to make things convenient for that side of the family and they're not coming through. Normal to feel that way. Just remember, you are loved by your family and that regardless of who shows up, the most important people in your life will be at your shower!!!

I am from PA and FH is from LI....FH and i live in LI....I am having 1 shower in PA. We purposly did it right on the boarder of PA and NJ. I know by doing this that some people from here will not be coming. I might feel differently when the time comes, but I feel that if people want to be there they will...i also know that it's hard for people to travel for these things. I accepted that when i made my choice to have it out of town.

Cheer up just think you'll have tons of other people that will be there to celebrate with you!

do you think maybe they just haven't RSVP'd but plan on going. Trust me alot of people do this, some think you should know they're coming and others just forget to RSVP by a certain date. So first have your parents call and see what they say, don't get upset yet

Hey, I'll always admit if I think someone is being a bit petty or dramatic but in all honestly... I would feel the same way!!! Its family!! Not coworkers or casual friends... 7 years is already a marriage!

Your not being Silly at all. I would probably feel the same way. I have a feeling this will happen at mine too with some of FH's family but there is only so much you can do to make it easy on people.

Try to not think about it -- you know you will enjoy the day regardless!
