Girls with daytime weddings??
Hi Ladies,
I'm having an 11:30 a.m. ceremony (Saturday) and my reception should end around 5:30 p.m.. I wanted to post a topic to discuss anything particular to a daytime wedding that we may have to deal with that a later/evening wedding wouldn't have as much of a problem with...
I have a couple of questions:
1. What time are you all getting up for hair make-up? crack of dawn??
2. When are you taking your pictures? before ceremony or after?
3. My biggest concern... are you going to keep the party going after the reception?? I want to but I'm torn about what/where. I want it to be low key and certainly don't want to pay for a second wedding. I haven't found any good, nearby bars/clubs to go to after (my wedding will be at the Carlyle.)
I was thinking about reserving a room at the hotel where we could just chill, snack and drink some more (my friends are pretty low maintenance). Do you think that's a good idea or would you be bored on a Saturday night at the hotel?
I can't believe it's '08 already! Good luck to all you ladies with upcoming weddings!
TIA!

Re: Girls with daytime weddings??
i am not having a daytime wedding but alot of girls go to the hotel where OOT guests are staying for an after party. Usually if you talk to the hotel you can set something up in their bar area.

Re: Girls with daytime weddings??
Well my church starts at 11:00AM so I'm thinking about getting my hair done at 5:00 or 5:30 and make-up after. For pics they will be after the ceremony (and I only have a half hour to take them). My RH ends at 6:30PM so i'm thinking of having an after party somewhere maybe at the hotel. HTH.

Hair/makeup at my house, probably starting at 5am. Pictures before the ceremony. Low key afterparty at the OOT hotel.

Re: Girls with daytime weddings??
I have an 11 am invite time. I will probably be having my hair and makeup done at 7am and having pictures at 9am. Taking the pics before everything. We will probably be having an after party, but I don't think we will make anything official, just decide last minute if we want to go to a bar and invite people to come with us. If its just us, great. If not, thats great too.

Re: Girls with daytime weddings??
Hi Jacqueline!!!!! According to Debi's website: 6:45 AM for hair/makeup The reception should be over by 5PM Debi suggested a restaurant/bar, across from the hotel, to continue an "informal after party" But there's nothing reserved there, just pay as you go. Pics before/after the ceremony, Mary MOB

Re: Girls with daytime weddings??
11am ceremony time. The church is about 5 minutes away from the RH and so my family and I are staying in a hotel that's close to both (since we live in NHP and reception is in Holbrook). That means I won't be up tooo early to start getting ready, but will be done with hair & make up by 9:30am.....have our cultural piece and be off to the church by 10:15am. Reception ends at 5:30pm so we'll be having a small after party/get together afterwards....hopefully at the oot hotel bar area.

Hi Espo22, gettinghizitched, bluegreen08, tlp123, debismom and MAY24BRIDE!!
Thank you all for your feedback? It's so nice to know there are others out there with similar situations! I think I will be getting up quite early also and we will do pictures before the ceremony, I just need to figure out the time.
Thanks for confirmation on the low key after parties. It makes me feel better. I keep thinking I needed to have some sort of high energy entertainment afterwards but I'm realizing we'll probably all be pretty tired after the day's events and just want to hang out.
I'd love to hear others' plans too if there is anyone else out there.
Thanks again

Re: Girls with daytime weddings??
I'm so not a morning person (as my mom continues to point out that I picked a daytime wedding ) but I think I'll be so excited anyway!
I'm thinking of getting my hair done between 8am and 9am for a 12pm ceremony. I don't think I will have someone come to me...I will go there. I will have makeup come to the RH when I arrive there.
We're doing our pictures before the ceremony. It's not a huge deal to me that he see me at the ceremony for the first time, but I do want to have a minute or two alone when we first see each other (maybe the photog could catch that...). Plus then we can do the whole mingle during cocktail hour thing and dance our a$$es off during the reception.
As for after...we live with his dad and stepmom and they're planning on having family and everyone back here. I'm fine with that (it would be a relief for me ha) but I feel like the bridal party is going to want to go out. Perhaps the hotel we're staying at we can hit up the bar or we can all go to our favorite bar.
Hope that helps you out. Good luck.

1. What time are you all getting up for hair make-up? crack of dawn??
Around 430am!!!!
2. When are you taking your pictures? before ceremony or after?
After the ceremony, during cocktail hour... But we have an extra hour added on so our cocktail hour will be 1 hour 45 minutes... We will have plenty of time to take pictures and then have some cocktail hour food in our bridal suite....
3. My biggest concern... are you going to keep the party going after the reception?? I want to but I'm torn about what/where.
We are def keeping the party going... BUT alone, in our hotel room!! LMAO!! No, we arent doing an after party... As far as I know... We never actually discussed it.. But Im leaning towards NO... Our wedding is on a Sunday so most of our friends will be working the next day.. And we want to be alone afterwards.. We are also leaving bright and early the next morning for our honeymoon...

Re: Girls with daytime weddings??
we're having a noon ceremony & i thought 9am would be a good time...for me. i think we might be getting ready together in our hotel room. i don't mind all the 'seeing me before the ceremony' stuff, but i kinda wanted him to see me all done up. just not sure how that'll happen if we're staying at the same hotel room the night before next door to the place.

we're having an 11:30 ceremony and our reception will end at 5:00. i will probably start getting ready around 7 or so and then we will start taking pictures at around 10:00 (at the RH). i'm SO SO SO not a morning person, but this is just the way it worked out, and i don't think i'll be able to sleep anyway! i was just thinking today that i'll order breakfast and mimosas for my MOH and i when we get up in the morning!
as for after, we don't have anything formally planned but we will go back to the hotel where our OOT guests are staying and hopefully people will join us at the bar for a few more drinks!
i hope this helps! i thought i was the only AM bride out there, so i'm glad to hear others are in this situation too!

Thanks Cutechef729, RKellner, dewdrop, bensgirl!
Wow there are a lot of us out there yay!
Thanks again for sharing. I'm feeling better and better about the OOT Hotel after gathering.
As for the pictures before the ceremony, I think we are definitely leaning toward that, despite getting up even earlier (will my sister wake up? LOL), so we can enjoy our cocktail hour.
One of my best friends took pictures before the wedding and the photographer set it up so the bride and groom would have a few moments alone and it would be special when the groom first came around the corner and saw his bride for the first time. I think we'll try to do the same!

after reading this thread, i think i need to get up earlier than i planned.
i also want that 'coming-round-the-corner' shot of us seeing each other all decked out for the first time. that's a great moment!
there's a bride on there who had a bowling after party. she's actually bowling in her bridal gown! it's far too cute. great idea too!

OMG I saw those photos of the bowling after party! That is awesome! I LOOOOOVEEE to bowl.
Dare I admit, I was in the P.A.L. bowling leagues (Saturday morning bowling) when I was a little kid, well when I wasn't roller skating!
Maybe I'll check if there is a bowling alley nearby our reception/hotel

Re: Girls with daytime weddings??
I had a daytime wedding...11:15 am ceremony on a sunday.
1) hair and make up started at 5:00 am or so.....1 makeup artist needed approx 25-30 min. per person---and did myself, 2 girls, 2 moms......was done just before 8 am. as for hair---2 girls came at 6 am--did the same as make up--plus one more girl---again done by just by 8 am
2)did pics before ceremony---at about 8:45 am at our RH (watermill) -- DH and i saw each other before the ceremony. its non traditional i know---but a LOT of ppl do it these days especially if you have a day wedding and are marrying at the hall. for us--it was the best decision......it really calmed our nerves down and we were able to relax and not feel so rushed later on.
3)our after party was supposed to be at the OOT guest hotel---but 2 wks before my wedding they sold their hotel and didn't have a liquor license so a bunch of family congregated at the hotel lobby and ultimately a bunch of us went back to my parents house----my dad went to a local colombian restaurant and got some take out for ppl to munch on. and we were there until about 10:30----at that point, DH and i were EXHAUSTED and went back to our hotel.
hope this helps ya!

Re: Girls with daytime weddings??
I just had a daytime wedding. My ceremony was at 12:30 PM.
Hair and makeup started at 6 AM (I only had two bridesmaids though...and I hired two sets of hair and makeup people)
We took our pics before the ceremony from 9AM-ish til 12 PM. our photog set up a "seeing the bride for the first time" moment for us and took pics as he turned around to see me.
We hosted a bowling after party at a nearby bowling alley. people LOVED it...we had about 80 people show up for that! We were expecting 50 at most and it turned out to be kind of $$$....but it was well worth it to see all your friends enjoying themselves. (oops...sorry, didn't see that someone already posted about the bowling after party).

Re: Girls with daytime weddings??
Our ceremony starts at 1130 at the RH. I figure hair/makeup will start at around 6. I have a small BP, so that should be enough time. Limo will pick us up at 830 so we can get to the RH by 9. Pics will be before the ceremony, doing the whole pic thing where he sees me for the first time. I like that idea a lot. I figure we'll be a lot more calm, and it's a more private moment, rather than all our guests experiencing it with us. Def want to do an after party, just not sure what/where yet. We have no OOT guests (those who are are staying w/ family). Our wedding is on a Sunday, but the next day is President's Day, so we figure we can hang out til at least 10 (if we're not wiped out!).

Re: Girls with daytime weddings??
I'm having a sunday "afternoon" wedding ceremony starts at 11:30am.
I'm hoping to find a salon that would open early and can do hair and make up at the same time. My MOH is helping me with this, since we lives in LI.
We're getting a hotel room and hopefully all my friends will hangout there.
Is anyone using a salon and can give a good referal for hair and makeup. Having someone come to me is so expensive, I'm hoping to cut costs by going to a salon.

Re: Girls with daytime weddings??
1. What time are you all getting up for hair make-up? crack of dawn??
My ceremony is at 1. I will probably get hair done at 7:30-8, makeup at 9 so I am done by 10.
2. When are you taking your pictures? before ceremony or after?
We are taking our pics at 11:30 at the RH. I want to be at my cocktail hour and since I am getting married at my RH, my cocktail hour starts as soon as my ceremony's done so there is no time in between for pics.
3. My biggest concern... are you going to keep the party going after the reception??
We are inviting everyone to a bar afterwards - but we aren't paying :) I have been to many weddings where it's just a pay-as-you-go thing, and no one minded. So that is what we are doing.
HTH!

I am so glad you posted this! My church is at 11 and RH at 12:30-6. I THINK we are going to do hair/makeup at 7. Not doing pics before bc my photograper does posed pics for 30 min and the rest are candid. We blocked rooms at a hotel where we are having an afterparty at the hotel.

I'm so glad you asked these questions! Because this has all been on the brain lately. My ceremony @ the church starts at 11am and my receptions starts @ 12:45-5:45pm . So I'm also trying to figure out when I will be getting started. How stressful!
