opinions on photographers
i'm meeting w/ photogs this month. i'd love any feedback/pics for these guys:
jeffrey lau
fadi kheir
be creative
cousins
merri cyr
patken
velvet
(blue daisy is on the list too, but i've already read a zillion rave reviews for her)
For most of these, i've already looked at their online galleries, which i feel can be deceiving since they're choosing the very best of all their pics. i have found some stuff in the brides' review too. we're def looking for a photojournalist style album.
ETA: also, how much has everyone been asked to put down to hold the date. i got an email back from one photog who wanted a $2000 DEPOSIT  i didn't even have to put that much down on the rh, lol.

I dont have any feedback on any of those photographers but I had to put down 20% as a deposit, which definitely did not equal $2000!

yeah, the one guy wanted 50% down just to hold the date, which seems crazy to me. i'm glad it's not standard practice.

If I can find it I have some info on Velvet and Patken. 2,000 is alot I didnt have to put much down at all.

my photog wanted half down to hold the date....we did it because we fell in love and frankly either way you've got to pay it eventually.

I booked with Velvet. Bob was great and really worked with our budget. We got a lot for our money. His work is amazing and I love that you get two photographers...traditional and photojournalist. Our deposit was $700. $2000 seems really high!!!

We booked duet for photog and video with 20% deposit which was a little over $1000.

we had to put a 500$ deposit. we pay half 2 weeks before the wedding and the other half when we pick up the proofs AFTER the wedding

A friend of mine used Patkin and I was in the Bridal Party, they were terrible! Not so much the day of, but dealing with them for prints and her bridal album, she had to go back several times to make corrections on things she pointed out at previous appts.

A coworker of mine used Patken and was very unhappy with how her pictures came out. I think it depends on which of their photographers you use though.

$2000 seems high...
We'll be putting down $500 each for the photographer and videographer..so it'll be only $1000 for the deposit.
