Re: Display Bridal Shower
We are doing a lineup
I know it is weird but we are having 2 bridesmaids unwrapping gifts then they come to me after i read the card then to another 2 brides maids who put them on a display table as my moh writes down what it is on the back of the cards.

Re: Display Bridal Shower
I wouldn't like it!!! I love to open things and like jteach said I've been to enough showers. I also think that family members will be weirded out/disappointed with the display gift thing.

Re: Display Bridal Shower
I was a guest at a display shower a few months ago. Didn't like it at all. It didn't feel like a shower - it was just 50 women having lunch at a restaurant together. There was no wedding talk, no games, and the gift that I got for my cousin - which was the most expensive thing on her registry and I'm sure she never thought she was going to get it - sat on a table with 3 others on top of it the whole time - very anticlimactic. I drove 4 hours to get there, and was annoyed the whole way home that I wasted all that time to have lunch with people I barely knew, sit there and chat for 2 hours, and leave.
Wow, I sound like an ungrateful jerk! Sorry. I mean, the food was nice and it was kind of them to feed me. It just didn't feel like a shower, and since I'm in "wedding mode" i was disappointed.

Re: Display Bridal Shower
I love the idea but my old fashioned mom didnt. With 100 guests it too me alomost 2 hours to open the presents. But I had my bridal party rip open the wrapping paper and then I just opened the boxes and so on.
If I received the invitation and said clear paper or nothing I would be thrilled!

Re: Display Bridal Shower
I think it's somewhat of a fun idea....BUT....after speaking to my mom and FMIL they both told me that many of the older guests would be extremely extremely offended. They said that it's the reason of a shower to bring presents and if you don't open them then you are ruining it. I personally think that makes a lot of sense. Your guests took time to get and give you a present so I think the courtesy of opening them is importnat.
