35% of Workers Plan to Find a New Job in 2003, Survey Finds

Dec. 26, 2002–- Adding to their list of New Year's resolutions, 35% of workers plan to change jobs in 2003,
according to a recent CareerBuilder.com survey of more than 2,200 hourly and salaried workers.

Of those planning to change jobs, 59% were dissatisfied with opportunities for career advancement with their
current employer. More than half (58%) of the workers planning to change jobs were dissatisfied with their pay.
Half of these workers also stated that they worked under a great deal of stress. More than one-third (38%) of
the workers who plan to change jobs next year experienced overall job dissatisfaction.

Job security also is an issue for those planning to change jobs. Exactly half (50%) of these workers felt that
they did have job security. Asked to compare the levels of job security in 2002 versus 2001, 36% felt that they
had less job security this year. In addition, 73% of these workers reported that they worked under a slight or
constant threat of layoff.

Despite dissatisfaction with their jobs, 47% of workers still felt that they were maintaining a balance of work
and life, and 32% of workers rated their prospects as strong for finding a job next year.
