Re: Diet time!! post here for support
I know Sassy, but I get sooooo sick of Fish occasionally... I like Italian, Japanese, high starch foods I can eat on ww..... He loves steak and while I love steak too, you really can only eat 4oz of that on ww and even that is like 10 points!!! It is very hard not to get bored eating atkins combined with WW. At least for me...

Re: Diet time!! post here for support
I eat everything I want with WW just in smaller portions. Last night FI and I had prime rib, baked potato, corn on the cob. We used I cant believe its not butter instead of real butter and I think the meal came to be about 13 points. I have special K cereal bars for breakfast which is 2 points, 1/2 cup oj for 1 point, and a banana for 2 points, then lunch is tuna w/light mayo, melba crackers and celery for 6 points. This brings my total so far to 11 points. I'll have carrots or celery for snack and when I crave salt, then i have small pretzels for 2 points. I am allowed 20 - 25 points. So far its working really good for me.

I am going to do the Atkin's thing.
Why is his family pressuring him to do Atkin's? I don't understand that. Besides which you are going to be his new family right?

Re: Diet time!! post here for support
I find I just don't need to eat the starch.. I also found that since I stopped eating carbs I have not broken out once... I have been on Retin-A my whole like and now ... nothing- no break outs. no medication. no nothing. I usually eat a protein bar for breakfast, tuna salad and veggies for lunch and then some type of wrap (they make low carb wraps.. and low carb pasta) or pretty much any kind of chicken, fish, pork dish known to man.... tell your FH to check out netrition.com for low carb foods you can eat on Atkins- it helps.

Re: Diet time!! post here for support
His family feels that Atkins works best for men, and WW works best for women.... I know, crazy right? They feel Atkins will be better for him to lose some weight (not that he needs to lose much) but I still feel like not eating with him tonight!!! We have to have two sep dinners every night.... I need skim milk, he needs cream.... He eats popsicles for dessert or jello with whipped cream, I need a ww dessert... You get the point.... It also gets expensive!!!

Re: Diet time!! post here for support
Diet Jello w/ lite whipped cream is only like 2 pts.. way less that a WW dessert! I would say check out the netrition site- their wraps have like 7 grams fiber- I bet on WW they'd be like 2 pts or maybe 1 for the wrap.. that way you could make wraps & both eat the same thing....
My FH eats what I cook- I usually make him a starch if he feels the need- he usually doesn't.

Re: Diet time!! post here for support
kp, i tried it online, and it's pretty good, they tell you your point allotment, and it works as long as you keep to it. I decided to stop online, b/c after 2 weeks I stopped updating it, and went back to my old routine. I think that since I only had myself to answer to I was OK w/gaining back the weight
Tomorrow I'm going to the center so I could get weighed in every week by someon, I'm hoping I'll be embarrased if I don't do good, so that will motivate me. we'll see

Re: Diet time!! post here for support
My FH and I work out differently so we have to do it separately. I'm suggesting we be supportive by asking each other what we eat and finding out if we did our work outs.

I think the WW meetings are great motivation, its the first time in my life someone else has seen the scale when I get on it When I joined last week, I was ready to strip down right there on line just to save some pounds!

Re: Diet time!! post here for support
WW hasn't worked for me On Friday, I had 23 pts before dinner, and then we unexpectadly went out to a restaurant, so I think I must have had another 10 pts there (and its some morroccan food not listed anywhere). Then Saturday, I had soup for breakfast/lunch at 4pm (200 cal and 4g fat = 4pts); and monkfish with escarole for dinner (probably 10 pts, b/c fish, and restaurant size portion), with a glass of wine (3pts). And then we had tea - 0pts. So I was a little under on Sat. Then sunday, its was oatmeal with raisins, I am guessing 2pts for oatmeal and 2 for raisins = 4 total, then a slice of frozen pizza and some low fat ravioli (probably a total of 12 pts, based on calories and fat on the package), and a then a teaspoon of peanut butter, a cup of coffee, and a glass of coke. B/c the food was not so healthy, I feel guilty.
Today, I had eggs for breakfast with a banana and coffee, and then I had a yogurt = somehow all that added to 11 pts. I had a salad for lunch, with low fat tuna salad (tuna with veggies, but no mayo). I think its 7 pts. Now I am up to 18 (not so bad) but have to keep my snacking down, as I only have a max of 5 pts left.

Re: Diet time!! post here for support
sept20yay!
I can totally relate to you. When I was on WW last year, FI decided that he was going to go on Atkins. I, just like you, was so mad. I figured that if he was going to go on any type of diet, it would make sense to do something that I was doing, but he was totally stuck on Atkins. I just could not see that being a healthy diet. I was on his case about it all the time. Eventually Atkins failed and tonight he is going to WW with me.
