Re: Diet time!! post here for support

Hi girls! At least I'm not alone in my struggle! I lost 60 pounds 3 years ago and have gained it ALL back! Doesn't that really stink! I also believe that just eating healthy and exercising for the rest of your life is the only way to stay thin and healthy. I lost the first 60 pounds that way...no special "diets" or pills and it worked. I did ask my doctor about Trimspa, Stackers, and those other "fat burners" in GNC. He said to stay away for many reasons. He said that they are addictive, and once you go off them you will gain the weight back. And the side effects are awful: heart palpitations, depression, anxiety, and some have been linked to psychosis. All that just to be thin! Eating healthy and exercising is the only way! Good luck girls! Let's keep eachother motivated along the way!

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

I was on Xenadrine 9 months ago. It did work. I was eating very healthy, my portions got smaller (the amt they should be!), and I was buffed up. I felt muscle everywhere. I started to see a six-pack coming! What happened?
I stopped working out in the summer and stopped taking the pills. For me the pills helped me focus on what I wanted to do and kept me going to the gym. I was eating what I wanted but the portions were not huge. I had more self control. Now I feel like my dog: where I see or smell food I am there in two seconds!

I will probably go back on them to increase my metabolism and help me to eat less amounts of food in one sitting.

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

Here is a tip: Eat slowly. Enjoy your food. Take a couple of forkfuls and then put the fork down. Drink water with lemon during lunch or dinner. Juice is empty calories.

After dinner I would sometimes have green tea. My dad swears by it!

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

I lost a couple of pounds last year for my wedding. I watched everything I ate and went to pilates classes. and I am still going. Exercise is the key. I felt having a class that I paid for pushed me to go and not miss it. Drinking lots of water helps too!

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

Cindy, I totally agree with you, that if you pay for something it will push you to stay with it! That's why I am joining WW. If I have to pay, I will force myself to stick to it! I've tried doing it on my own, no luck!

I think the key is spending the money! for me anyway.

LOL Chippatrid! Me too!
That is me opening up my mouth to eat some food!
How is the WW Cookbook? I saw it in the bookstore the other day, but it was shrinkwraped and I didn't want to open it up.:

Do not join LA Weight Loss. IMO, It is a scam. I used to work for them and it is all about money. WW is the best!!!

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

the WW cookbook isnt bad. They use a lot of veggies and the substitutions on stuff isnt even noticable. For example instead of using oil to make cookies, use apple sauce. Use skim milk instead of regular milk.

I dont remember what is in the book, but i remember seeing regular foods like meatloaf and chicken and the only thing is they use skim milk in making thigns that require milk.

Good day so far
I actually got my butt on the treadmill and ate correctly!! Just came from the grocery store - eating right costs $$$$

What about that Hollywood diet liquid? Anyone try that? I've heard that it really works but I don't know. I'm trying to lose 5-10 pounds in month for my e-party. I've cut out all caffeine and sugar and carbs from my diet and I am exercising 2 hours a day!!!

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

I have to lose 20 lbs by August for my first fitting!! I have the Firm videos (which work if you stick with them - but they're like freakin' chinese torture). I just bought the Windsor pilates tapes - but so far they're still in the package they came in

I've been on WW before and it's worked - my only problem is finding a consistent meeting to get to. I'll get all motivated and then something will happen at work or life that will force me to skip meetings. I hate that!!!! Plus - half the food I eat is sooo hard to convert in WW points. My mom gave me an Italian riceball for dinner - how many points in that?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Good Luck ladies!!!!!!

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

Well reality is that I will NEVER look like that picture but that is ok!

I have been seeing a nutritionist since mid June & so far I have lost almost 30 lbs. At least another 20 by the wedding would be nice. I will just keep doing what I've been doing and maybe get a little bit more exercise in there.

Good Luck to All of you!!!!

Jodi

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

count me in too.....i need to drop 15 pounds. Here are some tips that I got from my cousin who is a personal trainer (unfortunately, he lives in Florida so he isn't doing me any good, haa, haa).

1. NO WHITE BREAD!!!!! Switch to whole wheat, even whole wheat pasta. Its much more filling and better for you

2. PORTION SIZES!!! Watch them. Pieces of meat/chicken/fish should only be about the size of your palm (good thing I have big hands )

3. WATER!!!! Step up the drinking. You should drink at least 8 eight oz glasses a day. To help prevent bloating add some lemon.

4. Chocolate....ahh, our favorite. If you like York Peppermint Patty's these are great to cure your chocolate craving. They are low in fat and on WW they are only one point!!!

Lets stick together girls - think healthy in 2003

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

Lori thanks for that tip cause I LUV York peppermint patties!

I did okay today my treat for the day was a real small portion of tiramasu (sp?). A co-workers birthday is today. I couldn't resist!! It was either that or the nutri grain bar.
