help with wedding dress

I've been reading a lot of the posts here and all of you seem to be in sync and in the know. My question is I've been married a couple of times and I am getting married again. I'm in my mid forties. We're having an evening wedding and I want to wear a gown. I need to find a very pale, almost invisible color, green wedding gown. Most of my friends think I should just wear a dress (like bridesmaid dress or evening wear) . I want to look like a bride, not a bridesmaid. My fiance will be wearing a tux and it's an evening formal ceremony - next October. Any thougts, concerns, suggestions? anyone know where I can find a pale green wedding gown?
Thanks!

Re: help with wedding dress

Good question. Never saw a pale green wedding dress before.
Have you thought about looking for a MOB dress ?
Some are really fancy and come in a variety of colors, but do not look like BM dresses.

When we shopped for our MOG dress, there was a bride (second wedding) shopping in the MOB section. She found a really gorgeous very elegant and fancy dress in a light gold color. Looked more like bride than mother of.
We went to Bridal Reflections in Massapequa.

Another option is to try the evening wear departments at Saks, Nordstom, even Lord & Taylor in the city (especially at this time of year) for an evening dress that could pass as your wedding gown.

Re: help with wedding dress

Not sure how much you are looking to spend but Kenneth Pool makes some green dresses. They are very light green. Good luck and I think you should wear what ever kind of dress you want it's your wedding. Who cares how many times you've been married!!!

Re: help with wedding dress

I think Alfred Angelo might carry some bridal gowns in color. Not sure about green, but will check the website.

Re: help with wedding dress

I think Alfred Angelo may be a good start. They have wedding dresses in white but also add color to it so u can do the green there.....

or theres some BM dresses out there that do look like it can be a wedding dress. I was shocked at some of the ones we came across....you can maybe get that in a green color

Here's a pic of the Alfred Angelo dress I think NY031978 is talking about (or at least one of them) with the green accents

I remarried for the second time in my early 40's and wore a bridal gown. It was a Mori Lee straight gown (the color was pearl) it was beaded throughout. The top was like a tank top with a very low back. It was perfect..it looked like an evening gown because I did not wear a veil, just a pretty comb at the side of my head. Everyone thought it was perfect and it was. So the moral of the story is don't be afraid to look at bridal gowns because you can find one that is not too bridesy if you understand what I mean.
Good luck.
