To Airbrush Tan or not

I'm contemplating getting one of those airbrush tans before my wedding. I'm VERY fair skinned and I'm scared of blending in with my dress LOL. . . .I can't fake bake because all I do is freckle and burn.

Would you look into getting the airbrush tan or just leave it alone? If yes, does anyone have any good recommendations and / or prices? I've never seen pictures from anyone as light as me after they got it done. . .

Thanks!

I'm fair skinned and usually always come away with a burned bum after tanning in a booth. Try the spray tan a few times now so you can get an idea. I'm sure if you walk into a place, they'll help you figure out what color would work best for you.

Yeah, I know sometimes they can look really bad. I was kind of hoping that someone had a place they went to where it came out really well.

Oh well - I'll have to try a few diff places.

if you burn youre probably not using the right bed, some beds will burn you but the newer beds are bronzers

That would be great Tanya!! (is your MOH Lauren?)

I'll try spray tanning and if I dont like it I'll try tanning in a bed. . .maybe I'll have more luck in a newer bed or something.

Thanks girls!!

Re: To Airbrush Tan or not

i am SUPER pale - natural blondewith blue eyes and i have some freckles on my face......

i used to love tanning salons and the sun and used to get a real tan all the time even though i knew i should be avoiding the sun/tanning beds because my mom was diagnosed with skin cancer (melanoma - the deadly kind)

sooooo now because of genetics and tanning i have had almost 10 biopsies on irregular moles - (where they remove the top layer of the skin and biopsy it) once one of the biospies came back bad so they had to go back in and remove a lot more of skin to be safe and i had a really bad scar that i had corrected but its still really bad......and i have lots of other scars from the biopsies....all the moles that had to be removed looked like regular beauty marks.....

SO for the last two years i have been trying to avoid the sun......i use SPF at the beach and I do not go tanning anymore.....i used to think it was ugly to be pale but if you look at girls who regulary go tanning you can see the difference in their skin - uneven skin tone, dark spots on their faces, they have wrinkes at 25 and they look older and weathered AND tanning addicts dont realize how ridiculous they look b/c there is such a thing as too tan!

but anyway be kind to your skin.....you should avoid the tanning salon if you can......but to be totally honest i have a feeling i will go to the tanning salon before my wedding so that i am not ghostly pale on my honeymoon and so that i can build up a tan - even though i shouldn't be doing it, i want to look great on my honeymoon - and vanity is the reason sooooo many people get skin cancer

what i am getting at is that Airbrush Tanning can be great! i have gotten way darker with an airbursh tan than i ever gotten from hours in a tanning bed.....the only thing is that it doesnt last that long - it only looks good for about 3-4 days and it looks a little gross when it comes off.....i went for my engagement pictures and for my engagement party so check out my albums.....the place i go to is in staten island - and an actual guy sprays me while i am in my underwear if i had $$ i would seriously go every week - but since its expensive i buy a pacakge of 10 tans and save them for special occasions! you should try it out! good luck!

definitely try a newer bed but just a few mins, i do the highest bed but also for a long time lol i do 17 mins, but if you go to beach bum the max is 12...for you i recommend between 5-7 mins, the diamond level bed at beach bum makes you so dark from just 1 time...I normally go somewhere else bc fh's friend owns a tanning salon but sometimes i go for that bed at beach bum

i agree that ppl shouldnt go CRAZY...i actually had stayed out of the sun for about 4 years, maybe a little more no beach, no tanning or anything...this year i started tanning around the summer time and have been going ever since. In my head i say ok you stayed out of the sun for years so this will be ok lol. After my wedding i'll stop...i also skip weeks so i dont get TOO dark

Future Mulligan - you're tan looks awesome in your engagement pics (you look beautiful!) I'd go to staten island if I knew they were going to do a great job (even though I'll be mortified doing it in my underwear LOL) What is the name of the place and how much does it cost (FM if you don't want to post) Thanks so much!!

Espo - thank you too! I plan on trying the bed and the spray!

Re: To Airbrush Tan or not

I am very pale too, and it takes a lot for me to get even the slightest bit tan. I don't think it's worth it --- my dad had a cancerous mole removed and I'd rather not have the same thing down the road if I can avoid it.

I've used self-tanner before and might consider doing spray tan but I'm not even considering going "tanning"
