Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

just had my appointment at fox hollow where i finalized menu and chose linens, etc. I gave them a pic of this cake, except i want it 4 tiers and no flowers on top. i was charged extra for the flowers and chose the whipped cream icing because i refused to pay $350 more for fondant (thats nuts!) I hope my cake doesn't look like crap the day of, I almost went with an outside vendor for the cake but they are so expensive. i hope i don't regret my decision!

I went with Whipped Cream too. I wanted fondant but not for 300 bucks! Plus my dad wasnt gonna buck up for them. Hopefully they follow the pic I gave them as well. Guess we shall see!

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

As for the hair question--mine wasn't quite simple, but I LOVED it, and it held all night without any hairspray (my hair dresser is a genius).

Here's the back. She swirled it around to make it look like a flower, which is kinda hard to see in this pic.

I don't have a great photo of how it looked in the front (that's where it was simple), but this will have to do

I wouldnt stress about it. IMO whipped cream is better b/c fondant is gross and I always hate dealing with it when trying to eat wedding cake.

In the grand scheme of things the cake appearance isn't that important... I went to Erga Bakery (where F.H. get their cakes) and its yummy so I'm not worried.

I hope that helps

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

Hello ladies..

I've been moving back to NY and I'm finally here (yippie) so some of my comments may seem dated.

1st, I love your hair Jen in the first trial, but I also agree that it matters what you want. Something simple is good too because I helped my friend take all hundreds of bobby pins out of her hair before bed on her wedding, and wow... that was a major time consumer and pain in the butt, but also I do like the bun type of styles you picked as well. I hope your second trial goes well.

I also agree about the not paying extra for fondant on the cake. I thought about it for a while, but fondant has no flavor at all so they bakery has to add flavor to it and since there is no cake tasting, i'm a little iffy. I've baked with fondant but can't recall eating a cake made by someone else with fondant.

There was something else, but I can't remember,

Anyways, Good luck to all those with upcoming weddings and weddings that just passed!!

I totally agree with you.... fondant may look elegant but the whipped cream is so much yummier and easier to eat! I'm sure the cake will look great with whipped cream!

JBooth, thank you for the Michael's tip! We wanted to order one of those frames a while ago, but the shipping time from target was too long. But we got the frame- awesome price and some other fun things.. I wish I'd been to a Michaels' earlier in the process.. i would have had a ball there with all the fun wedding stuff!!

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

Not to worry, the bridal attendant will take care of everything. We stayed at the Inn and they walked everything over for us, including leftover favors, our cake top, etc. As we were taking pictures outside we saw the limo of the folks from the party before us getting loaded up by the FH staff. You should be fine, I would just be certain to assign someone to take care of the card box (or whereever you're storing your enevlopes). You don't want that to get lost in the shuffle.

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

Can anyone tell me if they used the menus provided by FH? trying to decide if it is worth the trouble of making my own. Are they decent looking? I would hate to spend a fortune on something that people will not think twice about and throw them away.

Glad I could help! I am going to go back there this week to get some stuff to make my flower girl a scrapbooked frame - kinda like this but with all flower girl things on it.
