Baskets for Out-of-Town Guests
I want to make baskests for out of town guests as an additional thank-you. I would love to fill it with items made/from Long Island or NY as very few have ever visited NY. Any fun suggestions?

Re: Baskets for Out-of-Town Guests
How about Long Island post cards? I got mine at Genovese actually. Map of the Island too maybe? You could get Pindar wine or any wine from the wineries too if you want to go that route. I put postcards, bottles of water, candy, and chips and made a magnet of the lighthouse from a picture I had taken and put our names on it. Everyone loved them.

Re: Baskets for Out-of-Town Guests
I don't think it's a fun suggestion, but I went to the Long Island Tourism office, and they gave me Long Island guides to include in the bags I put together. The office is on Motor Parkway in Hauppauge. I found them in the phone book.

Re: Baskets for Out-of-Town Guests
Being that my out of towners are staying in NYC the night before and of the wedding, I will be making a basket with all sorts of subway, bus maps, brochures, guides.. ( i got them all from the NYC toursim board) and I will also be including post cards, variety of candy, inexpensive binoculars, etc.. If you go to a mall, go to the customer service or information desks, they should be able to provide you with what you need as well..I got all these great guides from the Manhattan Mall..

Re: Baskets for Out-of-Town Guests
I got LI postcards, candy, water bottle and other good treats. You can also put the small Pindar winebottles in, we had to make 30 bags so that was too expensive for us. I know Claud2001 put Pindar in her out of town baskets.

Re: Baskets for Out-of-Town Guests
Actually, we put small bottles of local champagne in our out-of-town baskets, not Pindar. That must have been someone else. But, we also included mints, LI & NYC maps, postcards, train schedules, seashell-shaped chocolates (to match our theme), some crackers and other non-perishable snacks, reminders about limos pick-ups and a handwritten note from us, thanking the guests for making the trip!
