White gold looking yellow and what type of plain band???

Here we go for the issue for Sunday lol. I am getting married in a religious ceremony where I can't have anything but a very plain band. I figured I would get another plain band along with my diamond band so that I can have it for sentimental reasons (we get married in it) and for times I don't want to wear my diamonds. We went to a local jeweler near the house that we have known for years for a simple band. My e-ring is platinum but I was convinced by all who were with me and the jeweler that for the purpose of wearing it just as a plain band it would not enhance my e-ring anymore than it is already and therefore I should just save the money and get a white gold instead of platinum ring. BIG MISTAKE. I picked up my ring yesterday and the white gold looks like it has a YELLOW TINGE!!!! YUCK!! Now I have to go back and figure out what to do.

For those of you getting a plain band are you just getting a PLAIN one or one with some sort of little etched design on it??

Have you ever heard of this yucky yellow thing happening???

The white gold should not!!! look yellow. But you can tell the difference between platimum and white gold. You should go back to the jeweler and see what they say. But if you are wearing both together on the same hand, you will notic ethe difference betweent the two.

I am getting an eternity diamond band AND a plain band (platinum) for when I don't want to wear diamonds.

Where did you go? How much of a difference was the white gold vs. the platinum plain band?
The white gold sometimes turns yellowish after wearing it for a while, sounds like it needs to be cleaned & dipped in rhodium. Definately go back to him & tell him you will not accept the ring as it is!

You should go talk to the jeweler. My Dad is a jeweler and just like Jenn said, he has told me that white gold stays white for a while. It's with time that it turns yellow and just has to be redipped.
My e-ring is platinum and our bands will be platinum but for our engagement ceremony I bought my FH a white gold band because I knew he wouldn't be wearing it too long and we didn't want to spend too much money on it. He's been wearing his e-ring since October 5th and it looks great. He bangs it all the time and it is still white.
So you should definitely go back and ask them to fix it.

I have heard about white gold losing it's color after a long time, but NEVER when it's suppossed to be brand new

Update, I went back and am changing it to a platinum band to match my e-ring. That is what I get for trying to save some money!!! The difference in price is a few hundred dollars. The Jeweler said it had to be dipped. I am in no mood to have it dipped all the time and I did not like what it looked like.
