For this reason I got a fake ring that looks similiar to my real engagment ring. It is sterling silver... the real ring is platinum, and the stone is the same size as the fake one. I wore it to NYC the other day, and was happy that I got it. It believe it or not was a good idea of my FMIL. I have been on a cruise where they said there were safes in the cabin and there were not, and I was glad I did not take anything too valuable. I know this is what insurance is for, but why risk it?
