Jewish brides-kosher food dilema

Anyone having a full kosher or partial kosher reception? Having a full kosher wedding will more than double the price! I dont want anyone to spend that kind of money on food, so we thought of having 30-40 ppl getting kosher.

I don't know what to do. I'm very upset w/my RH b/c when I originally with them they told me they would have the kosher food a sit down for these certain guests (and a sep. table for the CH). Now its completely different. The owner said he would put their CH food in the recep room in the corner (kinda) and not really near anyone -thats where they dinner will be too (buffet style). It will look so bad to have 3 tables get up to a buffet while the rest are having a sit down.

I'm very upset about this b/c thats one of the reasons we chose this place b/c they said they would make it a sit down for these people.

Sorry for the rant, had a bad weekend and my RH really ruined it.

Any input would be helpful.

What does your contract say? If it says that it will be set up the way you described in your contract, they can't go back on it now!

Re: Jewish brides-kosher food dilema

Eeeks why can't they just serve the kosher food along with the sit down dinner just on seperate trays - i mean I would think that would be okay? I feel bad for your situation!

It doesn't say anything but kosher food TBD. We didn't finalize any part of that. I know I should have had him put that (kosher sit down) in writing.

Supposedly it will get messed up?? I doubt that though if the tables are marked. When I first booked they said they bring everything in (oven, plates, food, etc.) Now he's telling me something different.

Is your family STRICT kosher?

Don't they have a fish or vegetarian option available. (That's what we decided because we didn't want a kosher wedding for $$ reasons plus we're not that religious)

We originally thought about going with your RH and I thought they said they had that option available.

We didn't go with them for other reasons.

Threaten to cancel the contract. I was just reading another thread and apparently, in Suffolk, you have no financial responsibility to RH if you cancel up to 6 months before the event.

If they want your business, they will draw up a contract with your specific requirements. If not, you have plenty of time to look for a RH that will!!

Good luck!!!!

Some of my family is and we have several friends that are strict kosher-meaning if the place isn't kosher they wont eat there. So what RH do is order in (they bring everything food, plates, serving dishes, etc.)

Wish I could be more of a help but i'm not certain what to tell you. I hate to be so negative but honestly, If its not written down in the contract you could have a problem with them.... possibly try what hb123 said and threaten to cancel.

Are they very strict kosher? Did they bring it to them or did you have to keep it separate?

We're doing kosher style at the CH.

at my sisters wedding the CH food was not separate because the whole wedding was kosher style so there was no shellfish

Re: Jewish brides-kosher food dilema

Our RH is giving us the choice but if we need any kosher meals the price per person is $75.00.. its not bad if we only need about 3-4 kosher meals.

It would imo look bad if they did a buffet while everyone else is having a sit down.

Re: Jewish brides-kosher food dilema

Oh that *****! I would threaten to cancel and see what they can do. Tell that you spoke to "whoever" and they said you'd do this...you wouldnt have booked this place otherwise.

Otherwise...can you do a Kosher Style wedding? Only choose dishes that dont have dairy or shellfish?

It *****...so many RH's try to mess around with the Kosher weddings. My place is charging several hundred dollars for a "rabinical supervision" fee. Its all CRAP!

Good lucik!

Edited: I just had another thought. If they won't back down with the buffet thing and you are really against it. Maybe offer to pay a few dollars more P/P for those people eating the kosher plates.
