question for Kleinfeld girls--Updated W/PHOTO

Did you tip your seamstress?
Do you know if I can return/exchange my headpiece? I realized today that I'm not crazy about it.

UPDATE: Just called to ask about the exchange. The customer service person said she didn't think I could, but the decision is up to the headpiece manager. I left a voicemail b/c they're closed on Wednesdays.

Sorry--should have put this in my original post, not added to the bottom:

ANOTHER UPDATE:
We STILL don't have an answer on the tipping, but I'm getting the feeling that the answer is no. Alterations are costly already. I think a thank you card w/a photo in our pretty dresses might be nice though...
Also, about my headpiece, I went in on Friday, and the salespeeople were kind enough to work with me on switching my old one for this new one, which I absolutely LOVE!!!

Re: question for Kleinfeld girls

I am not sure about what is correct for tipping the seamstress. So Im trying to find out about that too becuase my first fitting at Kleinfelds is in two weeks. I am nervous about my headpiece, I have a feeling I am not going to be crazy about it either so I was thinking about asking the same question if I can exchange for another one, but maybe when I see it all again I'll feel different.

Sorry , no help

Re: question for Kleinfeld girls

I have my first fitting on Saturday so I'm in the same boat - not really sure about tipping.

As for the headpiece, mine came in in April and I loved it when I saw it again but then then when I went for my hair trial I wasn't sure I was so in love. And I asked if it could be returned since obviously I hadn't used it since my dress still wasn't in. They told me no. Then I wanted to cancel the earrings I ordered there too -- and I was also told it was too late. But I plan to bring the headpiece with me on Saturday and see if they say any different in person cause I spent a lot on it and the earrings to not wear them. The only good thing is that I bought a Winters & Rain headpiece that can be un-strung and re-strung into jewelry.

Re: question for Kleinfeld girls

If you tip, do you tip for the first fitting or the last fitting?

Re: question for Kleinfeld girls

I had NO CLUE I had to tip at all. I was under the assumption that it was all included in the $495 (or whatever) alteration fee.

If I tip, I guess it's safe to assume that I will tip at the final fitting? Or should I do it at the first to assure better service?!?!?!

YIKES!!

My first fitting is this SATURDAY with Josephine. . .

Re: question for Kleinfeld girls--Updated W/PHOTO

Love the new headpiece!! It's BEAUTIFUL!! I really think I am not going to use my origianl headpiece -- after trying it at my fittings I think a brooch will work better. I still love it -- just not the stlye I want now. Maybe at my next fitting I will try and see just like you did if they will at least exchange it for me for something else I like better. Thanks!!

oh! Really? You're rockin' my world right now! How did you decide on the tip? Percentage of the charge for alterations?

Good luck! I just told them that it's not that I don't like the headpiece, it's just not what I thought it would be once it was with the dress. I think they were willing to work w/me b/c I wasn't looking for my money back. I DID end up taking the floor sample, which after I thought about it, I probably could have gotten for less, but I'm happy anyway.

Re: question for Kleinfeld girls--Updated W/PHOTO

thanks! I really think I want a headpiece that is more like a headband so it sits flat but still visible -- I don't go back there till Sept. 4th for my second fitting. wish me luck! I'll end up with a floor sample too if they let me do the switch

Re: question for Kleinfeld girls--Updated W/PHOTO

I am a Kleinfeld's bride and I did not tip my seamstress. I thought about it beforehand, but didn't end up doing it. In hindsight, after spending a ton on the dress and alterations I wish I would have given her $50 or $100. She did a fabulous job on my dress.

Yes, tip your seamstress if you are happy with her and have the funds to do so. Remember she is going to make you look beautiful!

Re: question for Kleinfeld girls--Updated W/PHOTO

Very pretty!

I read a post on theknot that a girl asked Kleinfeld's and that they said that the normal tip is $25 for the seamstress.
