Brides who are keeping their last name

I have 2 logistical questions for you ladies.
First, how are you being announced into the reception?
Second, what are you doing about your thank you stationary? Usually it has the married name of the couple, so I don't know what to do.
Thanks!

Re: Brides who are keeping their last name

I am keeping my name. I think we will be announced by our first names at the ceremony and reception. I didn't even think about stationary. Probably just keep it casual with our first names.

Re: Brides who are keeping their last name

Are you keeping your last name for professional only or for professional and social? My friend was only keeping her name professionally so she asked them to do the introductions as Mr. and Mrs. ____ since she considered this as a social event. I did go to a wedding once were they introduced the couple as Mr. ____ and Ms. _____, it didn't sound right - I would pick first names maybe?

Re: Brides who are keeping their last name

I guess it depends on what was already said, if you are using maiden name for everything or just professionally..... We went with the first names because I hyphenated... but at work I choose to go by my maiden name only.... socially I use both, so for me I felt there was less confusion if we were announced at the ceremony & reception by first names only. Good luck! I am 4 months into this & it gets confusing with the 2 name thing!

Re: Brides who are keeping their last name

I will go by my own last name professionally and socially. I don't think it is a big deal to be announced by first names, especially if the announcement begins by introducing us as husband and wife for the first time, or something along those lines.

Edited to say- these days, families have all different combinations of last names. I don't really forsee it being that big of a deal. Granted, I won't get annoyed if people call me Mrs. FH's last name, but personally, I never make that assumption.

Re: Brides who are keeping their last name

I am keeping my last name and I will be announced as something like this:

Now for the first time as husband and wife, XXXX and XXXXX or something like that.

Our thank you notes only have our first names

XXXXXXX and XXXXXXXX

I wanted to keep it professionally and because of my profession I needed to have my legal name the same as my professional name so I have no choice!! Any other questions just ask, I have done research on this lol!!!

Re: Brides who are keeping their last name

I didn't change my name either but at the reception I agreed to be announced as Mr. and Mrs. with my name first. On the thank you cards it had our first names, and for the return address labels I put both full names on it. People (especially older relatives) still send me stuff with his name, but I just keep sending mail with my name. At work, no one even knows what my new last name would be if someone asked!!
