Those who finished Harry Potter (possible spoilers)....
Whatd you think??
It wasnt as GREAT as I expected. Maybe I hyped it up too much. I teared when a few of the characters died and when Harry went to face Voldemort and he was thinking about death. I think the epilogue was just so stupid but thats just me. It was too much like a movie ending. Other than that I really didnt finish that book shocked or amazed at what happened. Its still a must read though.

I really liked it...I finally finished it last night and found myself getting more and more into it...she does such an amazing job with her descriptions that I saw everything so clearly in my head... but am not looking forward to the movie...I hated them all and I kind of feel like she didnt do enough to force them to be made more like the book

I actually was really disappointed with the book to begin with, but by the time I got to chapter 30 I thought she did an AMAZING job, and its turned into my favorite of the series!

Re: Those who finished Harry Potter (possible spoilers)....
I thought it was great. I could've done without the "fast forward 19 years" bit. I felt that it didn't go with the rest of the book...the writing felt rushed in that last section.

It does set it up for a easy transition into the next potential series though

I know no one will like this - but I think she copped out in not killing him. I understand that she didn't have to and I'm honestly glad that she didn't....but from the beginning we've been hinted that we'll not see Harry anymore. I also thought the flash forward, while sweet, didn't answer enough questions. Where's Luna, Neville's a professor - WONDERFUL(i heart him), but what about Ron, Harry, Ginny & Hermione - what do they do???
I'm concerned about the next movies - because they haven't established Ginny & Harry as a cute thing starting to happen. She should've been heavily involved in this past movie, but she was BARELY in it...

Re: Those who finished Harry Potter (possible spoilers)....
I have to say.. JK Rowling is a GENIUS... I couldn't put the book down bc I was so afraid for the 3 of them the whole book... I thought the end where he faces Voldemort and gives him that lecture was awesome.. I loved the Epilogue.. I thought the youngest childs name.. well.. it just brought me to tears... I can't wait to see this in a movie.. I can't wait to read this whole searies from start to finish again!!!!

I don't think she copped out on killing Harry... MILLIONS of children read this book and she would never let evil prevail... what would that say of her? I think she ended the series splendidly..
As for the other characters.. They are all together in the end.. the only one, I agree that they should have mentioned was Luna.. what happened to her?

she answers some questions here - and actually addresses the problem of missing characters in the epilogue. She says that she HAD all of the characters in it but then from a literary standpoint it didnt read well so she had to leave some out. She may do an "encyclopedia" one day to really clarify all of the bios

Re: Those who finished Harry Potter (possible spoilers)....
I too agree that the book was AMAZING! I cried when he saw Tonks and Lupin, so sad! Poor son has no parents!! I agree too that we could've done without the epilogue. I thought it was a bit cheesy leaving it off that way JMO. My favorite still is The Prisoner of Azkahban, and my second is Half Blooded Prince. I still haven't seen the movies!
