need some input re: Grooms Cake pls! (updated w/ PICS)
So I'm planning on ordering a grooms cake from Audreys Bakery for FH, and know I want it to be a book (probably an open book), a stack of books, something like that. FH is a special education teacher and loves it but really dreams of being a writer, loves reading, such a book worm, and is currently writing his first book (kind of the "fantasy" genre I guess you could say...which I know very little about, lol) and also a childrens book. So I thought it would be encouraging to do a book cake for him.
Problem: I'm STUMPED on what the book pages (or cover if I do a closed book, but dont think I will, looks a little boring) should say! Any suggestions????? TIA!!!
I think pictures of something may look cheesy, but maybe a saying or something would be a good idea. I would do a bible verse that he likes, but then it will look like I just got him a groom's cake of a bible. He only has working titles for the books, so I don't want to go on that. If I get a stack of books, I can do something written on the spine of each, but I'm just stumped!
Here are some pics of book cakes, do you like what any of them say? And if so, do you think FH will "get it" that its supposed to do with him wanting to be a writer?

Not doing this, but I thought this was crazy!

How about a sentence on each page about the reasons why you love him? The last page saying something along the lines of.."I love you, can't wait to marry you"..?

Thx for cute idea! Ill prob be giving it to him at our reception, not RD, so we'll already be married.

that's sweet!
but I don't know if he would "get" that it was supposed to be geared towards him writing...
what about the stack and maybe put his last name on one of them - as if he authored it?

I really like the idea of the stack of books. Maybe you could have the titles of his favorite books on the sides of the books and then the title of the top book could be our life together with your monogram and your wedding date on the top.

That's a great idea! And the quote can be about supporting one another maybe?
I'll try and find some...

i also thought about a thoreau quote, who he loves.
"Man is the artificer of his own happiness."
or
"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined. As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler."
Then it would be more geared towards him and encouraging his pursuits and not be confusing as to why a book but with stuff about us and our life.

since the grooms cake is suppposed to be a reflection of teh grooms personality why not put his favorite quote or passage from a book or better yet, maybe you can get one from the book he is writing

Cute idea, very personal and I'm sure it will turn out beautifully! This is so weird but that Natasha Bedingfiled song popped into my head while reading your post..."this is where your book begins, the rest is still unwritten".

I like the second cake.... what if you did words on the bind that mean something to him or the both of you and have his initials be the author or full name... and what if you put a pen by the cake or write on the page a little about him and say to be continued

hey date twin!
not silly Q. Most girls do it for the RD, some do it for the reception. I think Im doing reception. And it will be for him and then the whole BP will take home a slice too. I think. Not positive yet.

I love this.... I just gave my sister a card with this quote on it for her grad.
I was going to suggest putting his favorite quote (or a quote) from his favorite author on the cake... I think this one is perfect!

i really like the stack of books, so maybe if you have the names inscribed on the spines of some of his favorites, and then possibly have a smaller open book on the top, it can be the title page of his book with an "inscription" from you?

I saw some nice cake toppers and bookmarks on ebay that would be nice for the book theme. They also had some apple for the teacher favors that might go nice.
