Teachers..Summer work question..

To all my fellow teacher brides to be... what is everyone planning on doing for summer work? My district does a summer program, but it's only for like 2 weeks and not until the end of the summer....I applied to Boces but just like last year I haven't heard from them (now I can take a hint!) Any suggestions?

Re: Teachers..Summer work question..

i don't do summer school anymore. it's a 45 minute commute for me each way and not worth it for 3 hours.

i tutor a bunch of kids all on one day during the week. i go from like 9-3 and get them all done. and it's more money than summer school and i get to enjoy 6 days of freedom a week

I am not doing anything cause my summer is in August, but you could always do summer school or curriculum writing.

I hear ya on that one! Just found out I will not be getting "bumped up" on the pay scale because I do'n't have enough credits to go up a step!

Re: Teachers..Summer work question..

I don't work over the summer, at least not for now. Plus this summer with the wedding and everything, no way. I don't think I'd want to teach summer school though. I'd have to find something else to do.

Re: Teachers..Summer work question..

I'm not sure what I'm doing - maybe trying to find some tutoring or just getting a regular retail part time job - just need some extra money

Re: Teachers..Summer work question..

i am signed up to teach summer school.. but if the budget doesn't pass that will go to the wayside.. and then i will tutor kids.. i am also accepted to a fellowship program through the national endowment for the humanities so if the budget doesn't pass i'm going to go to that..

i can not WAIT until summer hough..

Re: Teachers..Summer work question..

I'm tutoring. . . .also some itinerant (by the hour) special ed. through my district. i don't want anything too taxing... i need a break.

if your'e certified special ed. there are a lot of jovs out there....particularly with the autism kids and the early intervention kids... look in the paper, they are always posting or contact someone in your pupil/personnel office..th.ey'll point you in the right direction.
