Sunday, 2/18/7 NYC Review! Rockefeller Center, Shalom Orchestras, Two Little Red Hens, SIlk Studios, etc.

I promise that when I get pictures, I will post them!

Dress:
Angelo Lambrou:A+
He custom made me the dress of my dreams, following a pattern from my Mom's dress from 1969, but modernizing it and making the most exquisite garment I'll ever wear. The only reason I cannot give an A++ is b/c my bustle broke during the party b/c I was dancing too much....ha! The material he used is exquisite silk from China, lace from France, and I had about 12 fittings to be sure it was nothing less than perfect. He is from Botswana, and has talent like I've never seen. ANyone who doesn't find a dress in a traditional store that makes them squeal " this is it!" should go to Angelo....he'll custom make you the dress that makes you squeal with delight based upon your dreams, what you tell him, and what he knows whill look best on you. He is an artist unlike any other. He also has the patience of a saint, not pretentious at all, and is nothing short of a genious. Laura, his assistant, and Juana, the seamstress are equally amzing. Located in the east village, on E. 7th Street between 1st and Avenue A.

Veils/Tiara: Bridal Veil Falls, NYC: A++Margeret is amazing...she made me custom veils and tiara that went with my dress to a tee, were a modern re-creation of my Mothers, and she has a little store in the village that is dedicated to just veils and headpeices for brides. Shes an ex designer for Saks and Betsey Johnson who retired to do what she loves most and she is amazing at it. She is a true artist....also fairly priced.

Shoes: Peter Fox Shoes, Soho NY ...A
I loved my shoes! THey were totally comfortable and perfect for my wide feet...so stylish; matched my dress and they dyed them too!

Second Shoes: Macy's A
The day before my wedding I got cheap shoes ($20) just to be worn for outdoor pictures so that I wouldn't ruin my silk shoes in the snow. I went to Macy's (which I hate) and got the BEST shoes ever! They were gold which looked hot with my ivory dress........they were GUess, and perfect for the 20 minutes that I wore them outside for outdoor photos. If I had to do it over, I would have gotten gold shoes for the whole night. Looks great against ivory!

Venue, 3 West Club.....C-
Setting (Rock Center) and the mansion is beautiful. Vies of St. Patricks, right outside Rock Center....its amazing.
THe food was exquisite....favorites included Mushroom Voul a Vert appetizer, Filet Mignon, Chilean Sea Bass, and choc. mousse in a chocolate shell.
However, they do not include a bridal suite (gasp! )that should always be included!

Our wedding coordinator was not very helpful. Two hours before my wedding, I was running my own rehearsal. In addition, the only linens they offer are ugly and cover half the table so that you have to order your own, which is okay, but the only reason I found out (she didn't tell me) was through one of the florists I spoke to (not the one I hired). I ordered linens, and then they accidentally used them the night before for another wedding. THis was very stressful!

She also neglected to have a microphone for us at the ceremony (which we had discussed and confirmed befoehand), did absolutely NOTHING prior to the wedding, and was totally disorganized. Sshe did not run a ceremony rehearsal for us, which is unacceptable, and our ceremony was very disorganized. I blame her and my rabbi for this.

In addition, they were very slow to get back to me when I called /emailed them and I felt that for the $ I was paying, I deserved better treatment then that.
However, they did let me have a custom martini bar...which I think is cool.

Broadway Famous Linens- A+
Not only were they great to work with, but the night before, my catering hall accidentally used the linens for another wedding. Broadway famous actually brought new ones over in time for my wedding, and tolerated my hysteria over the matter

Band: Shalom Orchestras A+++++++++++++++
I don't even know what to say....they were amazing. Nobody got off the dance floor....my 93 year old grandmother, teenage cousins and all my friends ranging in ages 2-98 were jamming all night. They diagnosed the crowd, played the best music ever.....not Jewish music although they did a mean hora! Played the best songs ever, customer service exquisite; talent that is unlike any other. My Dad is a professional musician and he found them, so we already know that they could be nothing but the best. They really were....this is amazing. If you are not Jewish, they are also known as "Apex Entertainment."
They are the best band ever.

Florist- Shields Warendorff Florist- A++++
Kim was amazing. He gave me even more than we had discussed. He is sweet, kind, and a total perfectionist. He too the huppa I had envisioned and turned it into a reality. He also gave me the exact bouquets I wanted, and superceded my expectations with candles and aisle flowers that were unexpected and amazing. My centerpeices of curly willow, cala lillies and bear grass were unbeleivable! Pricing was totally fair.....his personality and attention to detail were seomething i've never seen before.....you would have thought it was his own daughter's wedding. I still cannot believe how amazing this vendor is!

Photography- Silk Studio Weddings- A++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This vendor totally OVER DELIVERED.
These are the best pictures I've ever seen in my life. They also gave us an amazing montage, unexpected, that is priceless. Each time I watch it I cry.
In addition to being the height of talent and professionalism, their calming and fun personalities put me at ease and made the getting ready and the rest of the day so much fun! Shari was acutally tearing when I came down the aisle.....I cannot stop thinking about how wonderful it was to have them with us throughout the day. My bridesmaid made the comment that "josh's smile makes everyone else smile," and she was so right! We got the best smiles and emotions from these two. A must hire. THe pictures are going to be amazing .l I've seen their work and its nothing less then phenominal.

VIdeo- Elan Documentary / DOcumentary CO-op
D-

STEER CLEAR Josh Friedman was really nice to work with. He was so much fun to have around on our wedding day. We thought the pricing for the raw footage was fair....however after the wedding he convinved us to edit it at a cost of $750, which we thought was very high. We did it anyway and were sorely disappointed. It was NOTHING like the videos in the samples that they sent us. It was just the ceremony and cake cutting. Nothing of the dancing, first dance, etc.
I told him I just wanted the raw footage, so he sent me the micro tapes....I had to pay another couple of hundred dollars to transfer them onto DVD from yet another video house.
I was so mad....I let him know....he offered to re-do the edited version and add it the first dance. He sent it back to us, but the first dance was unedited, and I already had the unedited version from when I had to transfer the raw footage onto DVD.
I hate the video. I'll never watch it. This vendor stinks.
Don't use them

Cake- Two Little Red Hens- A+
Peter was amazing to work with. I didn't know exactly what I wanted in design....he made the cake of our dreams. It tasted INCREDIBLE. We went to 11 different bakeries to find the best tasting Red Velvet Cake and we got it! It looked amazing too. They wre a pleasure to work with and Peter himself delivered it. Love them!

Ketubah.- www.ketubah.com A+
AMAZING

Cantor- Cantor Carla Reynolds C -
She is very pleasant, but her voice is not the greatest. I listened to my video; it sounds like a howling dog.

Rabbi- Robert Raab - D
He didn't do what we wanted, despite 2 meetings. We chose him b/c he bar Mitzvahed my husband so there was an emotional tie. However, he did not perform the way we wanted, did not follow the program I worked so hard on, had a BIC crap pen for us to use when signing our ketubah, and he forgot to remind my husband to put a yarmulke on....he went through the whole ceremony without a yarmulke. My family was horrified. He also did not come one hour early for the rehearsal, which as far as I am concerned is unnacceptable for a $500 fee. He should have been there!

Because he didn't show up for the rehearsal, we didn't know what we were doing; we standed on the wrong sides that we were supposed to....not a big deal, but at the time it was stressful; we were up there and knew we were on the wrong sides, but didn't know what to do.

His ceremony was bland, boring, and very cookie cutter. He was actually promoting his temple (that he retired from) more than our marraige. I was furious. If not for the programs that people followed which I made myself, it would have been totally lame. The only reason he gets a D instead of an F is b/c he actually showed up, got us married and got the job done.

Invitations/Programs- Calligraphy by Marjorie A+
She was awesome and made me everything I wanted....helped me, and put up with 2 bridezilla moments.

Yarmulkes: Weinfeld Skull and Cap- A
They made us custome yarmulkes that were great!

Makeup: Derya Derman, of Bobbi Brown at Bloomingdales A+++++++++++++++
I have never looked so amazing. She also stayed 3 hours beyond necessary just to make sure everything was okay once I put the dress on. She has an amazing personality too; yet totally professional. She was just so pleasant to have around. If I had it to do over again, I'd have her as a bridesmaid.

Hair: Vilma, of the Alma Salon A++++++++++++++++++
This woman is amazing.....she took my less than shoulder length hair and made an updo that was full of twists and all other things using a little tool. She has talent unlike any other. Everyoene from the makeup artist to the phtographer commented that they have never seen talent as amazing as this. Vilma is aa true artist and genius.And, like my makeup artist (Derya), Vilma also surpassed the call of duty and stayed all the way until the end to make sure that nothing got messed up when I put the dress on. Another one who, if I had it to do over again I would have as a bridesmaid.

RINGS- Murrey's Jewelers, UES, NYC. A
Awesome job! My hubby got a plain white gold, I got the trinity ring....3 intertwining bands, pink, yellow, and white gold representing love, friendship, and fidelity. FH surprised me by having the white part paved The only reason I cannot give them an A+ is because when DH whent to pick up the rings, his was not ready, even though he was under the impression they were ready; and it was a very far shlep. However, they did courier it over to him the next day. This is a family owned business and we will never take our jewelry anywhere else!
