Money bag vs. Card box?

Help me out girls: today we went to see the FILs and FMIL gave me a beautiful white satin money bag. Problem is, I wasn't planning to do a money bag b/c I don't know how it works! Do I carry it around all night? Is it presumptious to walk around with a bag for this purpose? I had planned to do a card box, and have actually never been to a wedding where they did a money bag. FH said it's an Italian thing (FMIL is Italian) but I don't know how it works! Or can I do both the money bag and a card box? Advice, please!!

I don't see why it would be a big deal to use both.

Re: Money bag vs. Card box?

I dont see why you can't do both, at my wedding most people handed me the cards and then I walked around with a stack of cards and then dropped them in my card box for safe keeping, so maybe having a bag to put them in wouldn't be a such a bad thing. Regardless when you are walking around people will hand you cards, better to have someplace to put them.

I think you could use both -- we are using a birdcage that 's been used in the last few years by all of my cousin's. I loved the look of it

Re: Money bag vs. Card box?

Thanks ladies. It does make sense to have a place to put cards as we walk around. And my southern and midwestern guests can put cards in the card box if they want. Thanks!

Re: Money bag vs. Card box?

I would use the bag if you're planning on going from table to table greeting guests....FH and I are doing a receiving line...plus, we're trying to get our "hi, thank you for comings..." out during the cocktail hour.... I don't think it would be a big deal to do both though...
