Question for Brides getting married in Catholic Church
What is the "donation" fee you have to pay and to whom? The church? The organist etc..... I don't know about mine yet, we booked the church but didn't get to that point of discussing the donation fee. Just curious.

Re: Question for Brides getting married in Catholic Church
We are getting married at St. Barnabus in Bellmore and I believe the total was about 500.00. I am not sure if each church is the same or not, but we are required to pay toe organist and singer even if we choose not to use them. (Mark's family is very musical, all instruments and singers as well, so kind of a waste for us). Also, the norm is to tip the alter boys as well which is not included in your normal "donation".

Re: Question for Brides getting married in Catholic Church
We are getting married at St. Williams in Seaford. The church donation is $200. The organist and singer are $75 each (I think), but since we are not using them, we don't have to pay them. We are also tipping our priest (since he's coming from a different parish to marry us), the altar boys, and the guy who has to clean up after the wedding is over.

Re: Question for Brides getting married in Catholic Church
We got married at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre. I had been a parishoner there before my FH and I bought our house. We had to give a $200 donation to the Church and because we went with their organist and singer, we also had to pay $200 to the music department. Total of $400. I heard it was close to triple that if you were not a parishoner, if you could even be allowed to marry there.

Re: Question for Brides getting married in Catholic Church
Im getting married in a church in NYC but the charge is $450 for the church plust $150 for the organist. That was by far the cheapest we had seen. A church just a few blocks away charged $1000 for the church alone.

Another Question for Catholic Church brides
We're getting married at St. Thomas More in Hauppauge, and the "donation" is $500 which includes the music.
Pardon my cluelessness......a deacon will be marrying us, so we won't be having a full mass. Does anyone know if there will still be altar boys that I should plan on tipping? and about how much for each?
Thanks ladies Jen

Re: Question for Brides getting married in Catholic Church
We are getting married at St Williams in Seaford. I think it's $300 for the church + $75 for organist and $90 for vocalist. I'm not sure if we are going to use these or provide or own. If we don't use them we don't have to pay for them.
We are also tipping the priest and the alter boys/girls. I think you have to tip the musicians too.

My church requests a donation of $250. Also, an organist and/or vocalist are optional at $75 each.

Re: Question for Brides getting married in Catholic Church
For a full nuptial mass, our church requests a donation of $ 300 if you are a member of the parish. We, too, have to pay the organist whether or not we use her (I believe $ 100).
Don't forget the altar boys-it's customary to tip them $ 10 or $ 20.
Whew!!
