Since July 4th falls on a Thursday this year, my company was kind enough to give us the Friday off too.
Next year I'm getting married on July 4th and since it falls on a Friday, we just have that day off.

nope - I think most companies will be closed that Thurs and Fri - then back to reality the following Monday

Nearly all large companies and the government is open on both the Friday and Monday after July 4th.
Many people will take off the Friday but I don't know anyone who will take off the Monday unless they are planning on going on vacation for the week.

we got the Friday off-- but usually it is just the 4th. Two years ago we actually had to come in on the 4th.

I thought my job was the pits!! They were at least kind enough to give us off on Friday. By force I believe b/c of our summer hours. No one was going to be in the office anyway. We don't have the Monday off. My job is so inconsiderate of their employees that they had the office open the day after 9/11 and were going to take a sick day from everyone that missed that day. Till everyone made an uproar on how inconsiderate they are, the president then changed his mind. Meanwhile he was at home till the following Monday with his family. Politics here is disgusting!

we got the option of the 5th of july or day after thanksgiving. definitely not the monday after the 4th, its 4 days after the holiday...no company is that nice!

I had to reschedule my wedding and one of the options was July 6th, 2003 or July 13. I wondered if people got off that Monday since July 4 was on that Friday.
