Spinoff to Fortunoff Registry: How do you break them up?

Okay so as much as I REEALLY just want to register at Fortunoff's and only Fortunoff's, I'm starting to realize that if I do that there is a pretty big chance that a bunch of people are just going to go to ramdom stores and get me stuff I don't want/didn't register for because they either don't want to shop at Fortunoff's or can't get there.

So here's my question: if you are splitting your registry at two stores how do split the list without driving yourself nuts and forgetting what you registered for already?

Re: Spinoff to Fortunoff Registry: How do you break them up?

I registered and BBB and Macy's b/c FH family and friends are in NC I just duplicated the registries and kept track of what I got so I can take it off the other registry which is pretty simple since everything is online

Re: Spinoff to Fortunoff Registry: How do you break them up?

It's hard to explain!

I left mainly my china, flatware and crystal at Fortunoff (since not every BBB carries it) and did more of the every day stuff at BBB.

I had to move a few of my crystal pieces over before my shower since more things were purchased at BBB (they just opened one that does China and Crystal by our house).

ETA: Some people will just buy your registry items at other stores if they don't want to buy them from Fortunoff.

Thats waht I did too (but at Macy's not Fortunoff) and I also registered for a set of bedding at each (too keep along the sa me lines as the rest of the stuff on each registry the Macy's one was more formal (and expensive) and the BBB one was less formal and more summery/fun)

Re: Spinoff to Fortunoff Registry: How do you break them up?

I did about 85% of my everyday stuff at BBB and left the remaining 15% for Fortunoff shoppers. I also did my china, stemware, pots/pans and bedding at Fortunoffs.
It worked out nicley for me, I got almost everything.

I've gotten almost everything as well, just a one more place setting and a few pieces of flatware are left (and some things that aren't really super important).

Yea see what I worry about is people not even looking at the registry and just going and buying something random cause they don't want to spend the $$$.

I did get a couple of random things, luckily they were from BBB and they showed up on my registry so I could return them.

I have friends who only registered at Fortunoff and they got most of the stuff off their registry and a few other items but, it was mainly stuff from Fortunoff.

Re: Spinoff to Fortunoff Registry: How do you break them up?

Thanks everyone! I think what I might do is register for my kitchen stuff and other little gadgets at BBB this way maybe I'll have more of a shot of getting that Kitchen Aid I want so badly cause my family will be able to use coupons for it! lol

Thanks again!

Re: Spinoff to Fortunoff Registry: How do you break them up?

trust me, YOU WON'T FORGET. I had my registries memorized by the time I had my shower. We registered at:
Macys
Formal China
Luggage
Flatware
Stemware
Pots & Pans
Linens
some household small things
lenox stuff
everyday dishes

Linens & Things
everyday flatware
everyday glasses
towels
sheets
small appliances
hamper
kitchen utensils
candles

Basically, I think it's important to have more than one registry. I know that it takes me 40 minutes to get to Fortunoffs and for my OOT family members, there are no Fortunoffs in the area. We did Macys for the convience purpose for our family & friends. I know my Nana and her friends were not going to go online to purchase an item.

Re: Spinoff to Fortunoff Registry: How do you break them up?

go to BBB (matilde knows the exact site on there) and they have this really detailed checklist. Go to one store and check off everything you registered for or highlight it in one color highlighter, then when you go to the next store highlight those items in a different color. That will just be a good way for you to keep track - plus each store gives you a print out

BB&B check list

here it is! - and thats a really good idea jenn i should go through and highlight it like that!

i registered for like EVERYTHING at bb&b - but they didnt have the serving sets for my casual and formal china. . .so i just got a few things from fortunoff - but i am not going to tell that many people about it bc i dont want them to go all the way to fortunoffs and theres only about 10 things there and they are all expensive!
