I am not a big poster but I since discovering LIW in 2004 I have been completely addicted and whenever I had a question or needed information you ladies always helped me for that I am so appreciative. My Wedding was wonderful and part of it being such a beautiful day and having wonderful vendors was do to all the advice I received from here. So, again, thank you!!
Bridal Shower

My wonderful sister and mother threw me a tea party theme shower party at the seventh street café. The food and service was excellent and my family was super generous, I would recommend them for showers and rehearsal dinners.

My cousin is a graphic artist, my uncle is a printer, and my father is a retired commercial artist between the three of them they took my ideas and made everything beautiful. I purchased all the paper at Paperpresentation in the city. Their prices are great and if you don’t use it you can return it.
Rehearsal Dinner
The Family Restaurant (Forest Hills) A+
My family has used the private party room at the Family Restaurant for many occasions in the past and they were wonderful as always when it came time to have our rehearsal dinner. Since our wedding was on a Friday, we booked the Rehearsal the Friday before in order to give us time to relax with our family and bridal party. We had about 40 people and when we were done eating and the bill was paid they let us stay in the private room and kept bringing us wine, theirservice there is always excellent.
Grooms Cake
The Cake Lady

My family has used the “Cake Lady” for many parties including the Teapot cake they had at my shower (see above). Her prices are very reasonable compared to what you see on these sites and her cakes are so good. For the rehearsal dinner she made a set of boxing gloves for my husband as he loves boxing and judges amateur boxing as a hobby. My girlfriend took pictures at the party and as soon as I get them from her I will pass post them. FM for her contact info.
Bridal Salon

From day one I was treated very well. After purchasing my wedding gown I was able to negotiate with the manager for discounts on my BM dresses and the MOG and MOB. Being that I am pretty petite I had to have extra fitting so did my mother and they were wonderful and accommodating about everything. Zizi who was my seamstress was the best, by the time the whole process was done I felt like she was family, she also did my mother’s dress and I had no problems. I read bad reviews on here about Bridal Reflection but my whole experience in dealing with them which was my gown, the MOB, MOG, 8 BMs, and a flower girl was fabulous. Also my BMs dresses were Bill Lefkoff and being that I have been a BM many times I have to same that the quality of his dresses are excellent!
Tuxes
Dante Zeller

We picked Dante’s in Forest Hills because it was next to our house, my family has used them in the past with out problems, and they have locations in the City, LI, NJ where some of the GM live. We picked the Joseph Aboud tuxes which were really nice and everyone got their measurements in and picked up their tuxes without a problem except the GROOM. It was the day before the wedding and they had got his sizes wrong and I was in a panic but they guaranteed that he would have everything in time to walk down the aisle and he did. But they gave me some last minute stress that I didn’t need. Looking back, I think my nerves may have caused me to overreact. They were very nice even when I was screaming my head off.
Hair/Makeup

I love these women!!! They were at my hotel room at 6:00 am, they did not only my hair and makeup but my mom, sister, four BM’s and my flower girls hair. They made me so relaxed that morning, I felt like they were just more of my girlfriends hanging around and not a single hair on my head moved the whole night, in fact at 3:00 am I was knocking on my parent hotel room door because I couldn’t get my hair down by myself and I needed help (of course my DH was knocked out by this time) and I feel gross saying this but I slept with my makeup on and it was so perfect when I woke up all I did was brush my teeth and slap on some lip gloss for the post wedding brunch. They were worth every penny and they are two of the sweetest human beings you will ever meet, I highly recommend them.
Broach

After trying on many tiaras I realized I was not a tiara type of gal. Then I realized I worked across the street from the Nelson D’ Leon showroom so I went over one day and I found a broach I loved and within a week one was made for me on a stick to slide into my hairdo. But then, when I showed my mother the broach the stick fell off. So I took it back and in two days they fixed it. After that I was scared to touch it but I had no problems the day of the wedding.

Sandy’s Shoes (Massapequa) A+
If your going to buy wedding shoes in LI I guess you go to Sandy’s. Most of my BMs got their shoes here to and had them dyed to match their dress. They did a good job.
Jewelry
Nordstrom’s/My Sister A++++
My bridal earrings, necklace, and bracelet was purchased at Nordstrom’s from their crystal collection. All of the BM, flower girl, and MOB jewelry was made by my sister from swavorski beads and crystals. This is something she does as a side buisness so if anyone is interested in bridal party jewelry FM and I will put you in touch with her.
Hotel
Four Point Sheraton (Plainview) A++++
We blocked 20 rooms. I stayed in a one bedroom (living room, separate bedroom, double sinks, Jacuzzi) suite the night before the wedding and the night of. The service was excellent. They delivered all the OOT bags, anything I needed or questions I had they answered. They put my parents in the honeymoon suite which they loved. Most of our guest were in one whole section of the hotel next to each other. The night before the wedding I ordered room service which was really good and the morning after brunch was excellent.
Florist
Flower Michele A++++
I leaned about Flower Michele on LIW and it was one of the best decisions. John takes care of you, he gets to know you and understand your vision. He gave me a beautiful wedding on my limited budget.
Church
Our Lady Mercy A+
I know some ladies don’t rate churches on here but I think you can. I am lucky first of all that Mercy is the church I grew up in and not only is it beautiful but it is a pretty laid back Catholic Church as well which we like. As far as wedding planning went they allowed me to do whatever I wanted, runner, petals, etc.
Runner
LA Blossom A++
I e-mailed Laurie the monogram my cousin designed and in a few weeks I went to her house and picked up the runner. I absolutely loved it and her prices are extremely reasonable.
Photo/Video
Duet A++++
We had Jay’s team. We first met Jay in Central Park for our E-Pics and just liked him instantly. The day of the wedding they were everywhere. Everyone has commented to us about them and we are really pleased with the proofs. Of all of our must take photos they only missed one. Ypu can see more of my proofs and my e-pics in my album.
Limos
All Star A++++
I went to many different limo companies before going to All Star and All Star’s limos and Rolls' are kept in the best condition. The day of their service was amazing. I was so worried about traffic but they just knew what they where doing and communicated by radio, and the day ran smoothly. All Star also sent an Escalade limo to the hotel to pick up guest and take them to the NRC and back again at the end of the night as well as us. I would use them again and again and again.
Reception
North Ritz Club A+++++
From day one everyone that I interacted with at the NRC was accommodating to me. They made sure I had my dream wedding and everything was so smooth, if their were any problems I didn’t know about it. The food was delicious, the drinks were strong, and the service excellent.
DJ
Elegancia A+
Since both the DH and I are from two big Puerto Rican families we wanted a DJ that knew their stuff. Jose, the owner of Eleganicia agreed to MJ our wedding and he and his crew kept the party going the whole night. They also put up pin lighting around the room to give the room a golden color and took the monogram my cousin designed and projected it on the dance floor.
Misc.
I ordered cry packs, mint tins, matches, table camera, etc. online and I was able again to e-mail the monogram my cousin designed to some of the vendors to use it on the items. My Aunt made 300 truffles for the wedding and put them in little white boxes with gold ribbon for each guest. As favors we purchased our favorite wine from PJ wines in the City ,they delivered to my house in Queens for free. I then ordered wine bags from papermart and my uncle printed tags for me to attach. My mother ordered wine stoppers as well. I also picked up cigars from the Little Rosa Cigar Factory a week before the wedding to surprise DH, the NRC put them out during dessert, and they disappeared.
